Half pint, cask at Wm Hawkes. A covering white head with good lacing. Slightly hazy golden body, Smell of leafy hops and caramel malts. Malt-fruity taste of caramel and citrus leading to a restrained bitter end. Easy going bitter (shared with Finn, Hull 26.11.2015).

Gravity dispense at the Happy Man, Englefield Green, Midlands BF, 15/03/13. Lightly hazed dark golden amber with no head - not pretty on the eye! Nose is malts, hops, touch of TCP, caramel. Taste comprises malt, berry fruits, pretty basic on the flavour front. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation - a touch on the flat side, some light bitter notes in the finish. A very bog standard twiggy bitter - not one to bother with again, red wine plaease if that’s all on offer!

Cask at Number 22, Darlington. Clear golden brown dark amber colour, white foam head leaving some lacing, and slight sweetish malt aroma. Initial leathery taste, with watery caramel malt and some lingering dry biscuity flloral bitterness. OK bitter.

A beautiful sunny afternoon on Friday 7th September 2012 saw my father and I join in R.A.T.2012 (Rail Ale Trail part 2). Split between three bars along the Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury railway line: they had over 50 different beers to try: this was one of them. Pint: hand-pulled in Codsall Railway Station. Lovely looking clean amber body, with a full head that gave some heavy lacing. Aroma was of malts, wood, nuts and earthy notes with some floral hints thrown in as it warmed in the glass. Well balanced feel to the flavours: biscuity malts and semi-bittering hops combine to produce a very pleasant beer indeed. Body depth fits the alcohol level nicely and I could have carried on drinking this all afternoon if it hadn’t been for the festival selection waiting along the line.

Cask at the Bridge Inn, Burton. Amber with a creamy head; aroma of stewed vegetables and manure, but not in a bad way; fruity with some honey flavour; short but strong bitter finish.

Cask at the JDW, Shrewsbury, Salop, 19-10-07 Poured dark golden with white head. Some malts and soft lemon notes in the aroma. Tasted very well balanced good bitterness and honey sweetness and quite bitter and dry but very tasty.
