Bottle, from Ølkonsortiet. A dark brown beer, not all clear, and topped by a firm, finger-thick light beige head. The aroma has a light coffee, caramel aroma as well as piney, citrus peel hops. A bit weak maybe, but it suits the ABV quite well. Some residual sweetness, caramel and roasted malts. Coffee and a hint of metal. A good dash of citrus peel hops brings balance. Well, it’s on the hoppy, bitter side. Full body and quite smooth, although slightly high carbonated. Lasting bitter finish with a fine roasted addition. A beer that I would very much like to see in the stores in my area, it slides down very easily and is very tasteful. Ah, and very nice lacings.

14th December 2010. At the Euston Tap with Harrisoni. Bottle. Clear dark brown beer with a frothy off white head. Very piney nose. Very light airy palate. A light touch of dark malt with just a whisper of roastiness. Pney hops, mild. Finishes creamy and dry. Nicely joined up Black IPA.

Bottle from Beer Merchants, consumed at home 23.12.10 Pours black with a nice beige head. The flavour is initially plenty of chocolate there is hops but they are late to the party and whilst not offering a big hoppiness they are definately there and play there part well, some coffee also noted. This is the sort of beer that you can happily sip and barely notice it’s almost gone (which I did) very pleasant. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.6

Bottle at Euston Tap. Shared with Ken and Yan. Cloudy dark brown. Lasting beige. Love the aroma. Great hoppy aroma. Lovely but not worth 12 quid. Great light abv black ipa. Gorgeous though. Over carbonated but finish lasts and on

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Pikkulintu) The beer poured dark brown and almost clear. Its head was quite large and shaded with brown. Aroma had mildly malts and quite a lot of black currant leaves. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours had malts, hops, mildly liquorice, pine, tangerine and bitterness. Aftertaste was bitter. Impressive that such a tasty beer can be brewed so that the ABV is only 4.7 %.
