Hand-pulled from cask at the Chorlton Beer Fest no.8. Firm bubbly, beige head. Pitch back body. Oatmeal and dusty hops to the nose. Anise, chocolate and oatmeal in a rather well blended flavour profile. Notes of tart fruits towards the ending. Satisfying. Shared with Stefan and Elisabeth at the festival, 06.07.2012.

Bottle shared at the Euston Tap. Brown-black pour with a soft, off-white head. Lovely, rich aroma with cocoa, burnt malts, just nice chocolate. Good, straightahead flavor, lightly roasty, some hard, mineral malts, mild cocoa and burnt tree bark. Light bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Strong, dry roast finish, some cocoa, hard malts, faint leafy and earthy bitterness. Just a super-solid stout here.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2010. Bit of yeast on aroma , maybe sulphur. Black in colour and lasting beige head. Bit of milky creaminess. Some roast, but a kind of milkiness to it. I’m not a fan. OK beer, just not for me.

(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 4 Aug 2010) Very dark brown colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark fruit, coffee and dark bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, dark fruit, smooth hints of roasted oats and a balanced bitterness in the finish. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, with a touch of sweetness. Well balanced and tasty.

6th August 2010. GBBF.
Clear dark brown beer. No real head. Unpleasant paint like nose. Light semi dry palate. The paint carries over in to the taste and dominates the dark malt. Finishes dry. Pretty grim. Infected?
