500ml bottle – Pours a dark brown colour with a small beige head that quickly settled to a thin film. The aroma is grainy roasted malts, some caramel, cocoa powder and a hint of dark fruit. A moderately sweet taste, chocolatey, sweet roasted malts, caramel and dark fruit flavours of plum and raisin with a smooth sweet roasted finish.

Handpull cask at the Pint Shop, Birmingham. Dark brown with a hint of ruby, translucent. Christmas cake, cloves, plummy fruit notes in the aroma with a hineof Ovaltine. Sweet taste, washed through with a sweet plummy character. Finish slightly more bitter. Thin body. An astounding mild overall.

Bottle at home from the brewery while watching the Singapore Grand Prix. It looked good in the tankard and the nose was roasted and toasted malts. The flavour was the same, with the bitter toasted malts perfectly balanced against the typical sweetness of a true mild. The malts gave a lovely mouthfeel and I had it at the perfect temperature to make this very thirst quenching. I can see why this did so well at the GBBF.
