A de-luxe bottle conditioned porter launched to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Brewed with carefully balanced proportions of dark malts including chocolate malt.

A very smooth, rich, smoky, ruby coloured porter with a generous charge of Fuggles and Goldings hops which provide a wonderfully balanced aroma. The Lieutenancy is one of the most ancient Offices in England dating from 1535 in Buckinghamshire and this beer was launched by Sir Nigel Mobbs, Lord Lieutenant for Buckinghamshire, who charged the coppers with choice hops.

Bottled. A dark red-brown beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of spices, caramel, alcohol, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, spices, and a bit of nuts, leading to a dry nutty finish.

[330ml bottle from the brewery shop] Ruby brown with a large beige head. As seems to be the case with all Chiltern beers, it has a very traditional English ale taste about it. Wood and earth, with some dusty old chocolate and some granite. Very light mouthfeel, but tastes refreshing rather than watery. Very different to your average porter, but actually quite welcome for it. Quite enjoyed it actually.

[330ml bottle.] Chestnut with a thin cream head; rich vinous aroma; silky mouthfeel, with raisin and roast nut flavours, but with a raw edge; sour finish with lots of warmth. Rather light for a porter, but very pleasant.

Bottle, thanks Chris_o. Very deep chestnut with thin beige head. Toffee, whisky aroma. Slight musty. Nice choc porter though if a touch astringent

[Bottled] Pale nut brown. Sweetish and nicely roasty with fairly hard but rounded mouthfeel. Some caramel and butterscotch. Fairly low bitterness. Light for a porter.

Bottled. 23-03-06 Purchased from the brewery along with a few others. Ruby red colour with small white head. Some chocolate and coffee smells, didn’t find the sharpness that others noticed in fact thought it to be quite smooth some malty and roasty flavours, not bad but then not really very porterish.
