Town Crier is a full-flavoured golden ale with a big voice. The elegant straw coloured bitter has a hint of sweetness which is complemented by subtle hop flavours leading to a dry finish. The nose of crisp fruit is apparent with a refreshing balance of taste, a bitter which is supremely consistent and full of flavour.

Brewed using locally sourced Maris Otter malting barley and Worcestershire Goldings and Progress hops.

Bottle Notes - Town Crier is a bottle conditioned beer which contains sediment, pour carefully and best stored upright at cellar temperature 10 - 12 degrees.

Slightly cloudy amber pour with a long lasting frothy head. Slightly malty aroma leading to a rather rich malty flavour and some bitterness on the palate. A decent summer ale, but it won’t win too many prizes.

Bottle from Tanner’s of Shrewsbury. Pours golden and hazy with a generous head. Nose of gentle toffee and some ginger. Taste of fudge, biscuits and then a lemon note on the end. Palate is medium bodied with a bitter tangy middle section and a dry bitter finish. Overall an interesting bitter.

Sept 2006 from BA: This is a straw coloured English Bitter, available in Shropshire and the surrounding counties. If you see it at a Beer Festival, take some. Straw blonde, lighter, if the sun catches it, at other times almost see through. Hops and Barley come to mind in the aroma, subtle fruit flavours too. The taste is almost sweet for an English Bitter, smooth and not overpowering. This is not a complexed beer, it doesn’t bite your head off with exotic overtones or explosive ingrediants, it could be called almost ’a simple taste’ because the mouthfeel is so soft. Very drinkable, I have had it at the Brewery, at Beer Fests and at a lot of Shropshire pubs.
