A study in Citra, with a little help from an old friend, Centennial.
This pale ale utilises Citra in every format - pellets, T90, BBC, CRYO and Yakima Chief Hyperboost - to explore the layers and complexity of this incredible hop and squeeze out all the juice that Citra can bring forth. Expect layers of mango, tropical fruits, lychee and lemon.
Hyperboost is a new product from Yakima Chief. It’s a concentrate of the aromatic oils from specific hop varieties, designed to give a lift to hop aroma and impart almost no vegetal or grassy flavour or aroma, providing maximum Citra delivery.

Exotic and citrus fruity notes on the nose upon open and taste follows, some lemon and lychee, honeydew melon, citrus peel, soft sweet pale malty support with a balanced light bitter close. Really nice.

500ml can. Hazy golden, dense white head lasting the duration, nice lacing too. Aroma of citrus fruits, mandarin, mango. Taste of mandarin, grapefruit, mango, melon, fiarly low bitterness. Medium bodied, super soft.
Citra pales/IPAs feel like a dependable old friend and this is a good one, not sure how much better all those fancy hop products make it though.

Panda thanks to Cloin. A light haze on this slightly pale gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Light smooth palate, decent fine minerally carbonation coming through on the back end. Soft pine into light but fairly bright citrus, mandarin especially, some mild tangerine. Whisper of skunk. Light and crisp finish. Nice enough, is it the most forensic or forward examination of Citra? Really isn't but it decent and very drinkable.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 07/02/2025.
Hazed orange topped with a just off white cap that thins to a swirl.
Nose is bitter orange, grass, grapefruit, citric tinged straw, melon, papaya.
Taste comprises orange pith, melon, grass, soft malts, mandarin, squeeze of grapefruit.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splashed with mellow light juicy hop bitterness.
Tidy enough pale with shades of Citra old.
