--- Beer merged from original tick of Quinquagenary 2017 Vintage Ale on 27 Apr 2020 at 00:16. Original review text: Aged three years. Well carbonated and the pop when opening is promising. Overall aged well but perhaps too long. Sweet malt and characteristic unibroue yeast. Medium sweet, simple Beligaan strong flavors.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from The City, Seabrook NH. Appearance is hazy, dark brown with nice sparkle at the edges of the glass, finger-width, beige, foamy head with nice crackle and decent retention and sudsy lacing. Aroma is strong Belgian yeast, musty/barnyard, tart/over-ripe fruit, spice. Taste is raisin with candied sugar, holiday spices, late clove, tart yeast, earth. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin, fizzy texture/carbonation, finish is dry mix of fruit and yeast. Overall, the taste really stands out--a lot of different flavors going on.

Bottle. Brown beer with a big brown head. Caramel and yeast aroma with light roast. Caramel and light toffee flavor with yeast. Medium bodied. Yeast and spice linger with caramel, light toffee, and light fruitiness.

Dec. 2017 vertical at Goose Island's staff bottle share: It's still a little yeasty, but this is more of a fresh yeast taste, like it got swirled into the bottle during transportation. Definitely a fresh beer that shows why cellaring a beer should start with buying extra bottles to enjoy fresh. The malt here is savory, almost meaty. A swirl of healthy yeast instead of dead stuff gives this a nice Belgian ale edge.

This beer is a dark brown color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lace. Aroma of dark fruit, yeast, spice and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of dark fruit, earthy yeast, malt and spice. The finish is fruity with a yeast and clove aftertaste. Above average overall.

Dark brown. Cardamom, ginger brown ale on the nose. Sweet brown malts, lots of ginger, cardamom and other spices. Assertively spicy.

Pours dark brown into a snifter. Tan head with excellent retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Chocolate and pit fruit aromas. Warm with chocolate covered plum and cherry upfront turning to dusty fruit skin before the medium length dry chocolate finish.

Cork and caged 750 ml bottle. Shared with my Son-in-Law on 29th Dec 2017. La Chouffe stemmed tulip glasses the chosen vestibules. Slightly disappointed to be honest, I was looking forward to this having really enjoyed the other Vintage Ales from Unibroue for Trader Joe's that I had tried. Ruby hue to the dark brown body, tanned topping. Malt based brew with a spicy twist, we may have opened this too early, another year will have helped it mature I feel. Anyway I got some light liquorice in both the nose and taste but thought it weak flavour wise and lacked depth in the body, not silky, smooth or rich. It's OK, but it didn't knock my socks off.

Nice stuff. Very drinkable like Oasis water in a desert. Some florals, apricot and prune with a hint of smoke. Light sweet finish. Murky brown pour. Up to standards. Bottle from TJ's.
