Formerly known as Wye Valley Bitter, this amber-coloured wonder continues to be a cornerstone of our real ale range, and is a mouthwatering example of a cask-conditioned beer.
Brewed using Maris Otter and Crystal malts together with locally grown Target and Goldings hops, Pyoneer has a delicate hoppy aroma leading on to a full malty flavour and ending in a crisp, clean bitter finish.

Handpull cask at Gordon Bennett's, Hereford. Light chestnut brown, clear with a small beige/off-white head. Light woody character to the aroma, some berry. Sweet taste, more woody and perhaps a little smoky. Considerable bitterness near the finish. A very good basic bitter.

Half-pint, well kept cask ale at Barrels. Shared with Finn. Clear copper coloured body, filmy layer, upper part lacing. Moderate malt-fruity aromas, dry. Fine mix of earth, caramel malts and leafy hops. Bittersweet ending. Well made version of the style. (Hereford 01.02.2020).

Cask @ Salopian Bar, Shrewsbury. Dark clear golden with a head. Low in 'bitter' character, more a pale ale and pleasantly sessionable.

Cask @ Salopian, the pub. Pours clear gold, small foamy off-white head. Some pleasantly sweet malt on the nose which nestles nicely in character. Balanced and moreish bitter.
