Rich elderflower aromas, ripe red berry and citrus flavours and a long, smooth, fruity finish.
Attila was our first ever Cask Aged beer!
John Bryan (our Brewing Director) started his first experiments with krausening Attila back in 2001, wanting to create a strong ale that was nevertheless easy to drink. Although perhaps only John would regard a 7.5% ABV strong ale like Attila as “sessionable” !

Cask at George, Croydon. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is earth, straw, honey, perfumed, floral, apple and pear drops. The taste is soft fruit...melon, apricot, pear, honey, light toast, sweet bread, alcohol kick, light pine and some spice with a dry, bitter-sweet finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth, well balanced and pretty drinkable at this sort of abv. Good work.

Cask at Oaka at the Masion House, Kennington - 19/03/13. Lightly hazed pale golden with a thin white head. Nose carries pale malts, fruit, sugar, citrus. Taste comprises orange, berry fruit, light citrus, sugars, touch of booze, moderate hop presence. Full end of medium bodied with soft carbonation. Ok drinkable stuff but I’ve come to expect a little more from Oakham.

Gravity cask at The Old Fountain Beer Festival, October 2012. Pours perfectly clear yellow with a tight, creamy white head. Boozy aroma with tangy citrus notes. Medium to big sweet flavors, plenty of boozy citrus fruits, some heavy dough. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming to finish with more alcohol-soaked fruits, jammy citrus, orange, light leaves, some sugars. Not a subtle tipple, but still decent.

Cask-conditioned at the Cambridgeshire & Lincolnshire Beeriodical, at the Seven Stars, Bristol, August 2012. Deep gold with a slight white head. Sweet, caramel and tropical fruit aroma with a touch of floral hop and warming alcohol. Flavour was also sweet and fruity, with a full mouth feel and alcohol heavy finish. Good, but a half pint was sufficient.

GBBF. Cask. Clear gold beer. Softish palate, slightly dry and a little silky. Light hop but full on flavour. Mild grassy grapefruit. Some mandarin orange and a little pineapple. Mild minerals. Not much malt character. Quite a warming finish.

Cask at Our Mutual Friend, Stevenage. Straw with a thin cream head; sweet and grainy aroma; smooth oily texture, swet and grainy flavour with a hint of tropical fruit; the finish is dry with some quinine bitterness and warming, spicy, alcohol. More of a Barley Wine in my opinion.
