Yearly, ending in 2017, we brewed Fluxus to celebrate the anniversary of our first beer sold—July, 1995. The name Fluxus is Latin for “continuous change” and in the spirit of change, every year we brew Fluxus with a different recipe.

Our 2008 Fluxus is a double white beer brewed with spices and fresh grated ginger. A double white beer calls for twice the amount of malted and raw wheat, which casts an elegant cloudiness over this mango-colored beer. The aroma boasts of herbal and minty notes, as well as hints of clove and candied ginger. Fluxus offers a perfectly balanced flavor with a warm, clean finish and a lingering spiciness.

Admin Note: Rebrewed in 2014 and billed as Double Wit with Ginger and Ginger Wit.

A hazed blonde wit with a thin off white head. In aroma, smooth fruity banana malt with light ginger wit, light Brett, nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity banana malt with cloves and ginger, decent. On tap at Porter Beer Bar.

Blind Tiger, NYC tap ($7): Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma is citrus, Belgian yeast, and a hint of ginger. Taste is subdued Belgian hops, bites of ginger, mild hop bite, citrusy fruitiness, and a spicy finish. Overall, this is pretty good. Tastes like an interesting Belgian Strong Ale. The heavy alcohol is well covered but noticeable in the heavier than normal body.

Hazy golden beer. Soft and dry palate. A little dry creamy malt. Sweetish grapefruit and orange and nicely judged spice. A touch of ginger I fancy and same with pepper. Joins up in to a nice spiced beer. Finishes is a tad over dry.

750 ml bottle from Hollingshead Deli that I got in July so it must be the 2008 and the label lists it at 8.6% ABV. Nose of sweet candi sugar, cloves, ginger, and light yeastiness. Lightly hazy yellow with a medium white head. Flavor is spicy and sweet; spices being the ginger and cloves. Pretty good but not great!
