50cl Bottle, brought from Berlin. Clear deep dark ruby-brown colour, beige head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits, some liquorice, some lager-notes. Flavour is quite sweet, malty, dark fruits, liqourice, light bitter alcohol finish. Medium-bodied at best. Decent but simple bock.

Aroma: The nose has some roast, a little bit of fruit, caramel notes, and a little brown sugar
Appearance: The pour of this beer is dark brown in color with an off-white head and no lace
Flavor: It is medium sweet and fairly malty, with similar components to the nose, and a light bitterness
Palate: The body is fairly light and a little watery, it has an average carbonation, and a clean finish
Overall Impression: Thanks for bringing this one back from Berlin, Mike! I found some stuff to like about this one for sure. Maybe it doesn't come together perfectly, but the components are all pretty nice.

Medium tan head. Deep dark brown barely translucent body. Sugary earthy soy sauce aroma with candy notes. Sweet-dryish licorice and soy sauce taste with chocolate and toffee notes. Mid-to-full body. Mild, soft, smooth mouthfeel. Dryish candy, soy sauce and chocolate aftertaste with earthy spicy notes. Some lingering alcohol heat. Really clean and well-balanced, but lacking in flavour. (0.5l bottle, Kaiser’s, Berlin.)

On tap at Epcot. Black with red hints. Medium, tan head. The aroma is licorice, burnt oak, vanilla and molasses. Tastes very sweet, with very little bitterness. The palate is medium, syrupy, and vinegary. This is a good, flavorful malt-bomb.

bottle from pivnizub! Brown colour, mid-sized beige head. Dry, with caramel and chocolate in the flavour, shy hoppy finish.

Red brown colour. Brandy-like taste, sugary. Taste of caramel and some chocolate. Smooth finish.

June 2011: 500ml brown bottle, obtained in Berlin and flown home to review at leasure. That review day has arrived: poured into my lovely Wolnzacher Brauhaus glass tankard, the beer having a best before date of Nov 2011, some 5 months away. Deep ground coffee colour (without milk), a tanned foaming head sat on top, half an inch initially, but thinning as the tasting progressed, but trying to stay the distance. The beer was well chilled, so no smells at first: I willed the beer to give off some esters I could talk about: to be truthful it didn’t give up a great deal, some chocolate and coffee I suppose. Mild dark chocolate and roasted Kenyan coffee flavours, with a slightly burnt toffee semi-sweetness in the aftertaste. The beer getting sweeter as it warmed. Mouth/body feel was fine, neither rich or creamy, but certainly not watery. The 7.0%ABv sitting nicely within the brew and hardly noticed, the carbonisation was just right, making it easy to drink and enjoyable. This isn’t a blow your socks off Bock, but it is well worth having if you can find it.

Bottle @ Bjarne. Pours dark brown with a offwhite head. Aroma of roasted malt, light dried fruit. Taste is rich malty, caramel, light licorice. Thin body, soft carbonation, dry but short lasting finish. 131111

Amber-brown. No head. Smells pretty industrial. Some vague caramel and toffee stuff. Thin, caramelly bock, pretty bland.
