The Roman name for the Low Countries–is a marriage of the best in American and Belgian brewing traditions. Belgian pilsner malt, a generous amount of American and European hops and a unique Belgian yeast strain combine to give Belgica big notes of citrus and spice, creating a lively concoction perfect for spring in the Rockies–or the Ardennes. 7.2% ABV.
First released as Belgian IPA:
Just for fun, the brewers took our Titan, a hop forward American IPA and introduced a Belgian yeast strain to it. The result is unique Belgian-style ale with lots of fruity esters, a citrus hop flavor and nice hop bitterness that’s surprisingly smooth. 7.5% alcohol by volume.

Bottle from Utobeer Market Stall. Pours a cloudy golden colour with a white head. Aromas of tangerines, herbs, quite fruity, peppery. Flavours of bitter lemon, limes, malts, herbs. Interesting bittersweet mouthfeel. Good sweet, citrusey, hoppy finish.

Orange, negligible white head. Low bead. Dough, peach and citrus nose. There’s fruit , spice and a little yeast behind a heavier citrus bitterness than is usual for the style. Which is what ’s promised. Only a tiny bit overbalanced towards the hops. Straightforward and pleasant.

12 oz bottle. This is the first Belgian IPA I’ve ever experienced and it seems to mash the two styles together very well. It has the hoppiness and bitterness of a great IPA and that hallmark Belgian taste with definable banana esters. Smells and tastes exactly like what the label describes: a combination of IPA and Belgian-style ale. What a unique combo! I love it. I definitely taste a hint of wood here, too, like pencil shavings or something. Aromas of grapefruit, pine. A worthy experiment.

Cloudy golden coloured body with a thinish, fast-fading white head. Aroma of pale malt, yeast, wheat, citrus and a very mild dose of hops. Medium-bodied; Very strong yeast flavour up front with wheat and citrus definitely coming out with some light spices and coriander seed on the back edge. Aftertaste shows some hop bitterness, a touch of caramel, but a good well-rounded quality that fringes on a belgian tripel, but the hops are definitely more present in this one. Overall, a good beer, a nice idea and definitely worth trying if you can find it. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 02-October-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 21-October-2009.

Sample at Brews Cafe. The beer is a hazy golden color with a thin and lasting off-white head. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Lightly spiced hops and citrus in the nose. Medium body with flavors of peppery yeast, citrus and hops. Notes of bready malt too. The finish is smooth and fruity with an apricot and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle at RBESG 09 Sheffield. Clear gold, thin white head. Estery IPA. Doesn’t really work. Bit of bleach flavour even. Shame, as I was looking forward to this.

Bottled. A golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is very hoppy, flowery, and fruity - peaches primarily. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of malt, hops, and fruit - citrusy and peaches, leading to a very bitter finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.
