Cask at the Old Fountain. Black coloured with beige head. Aroma is bit of coffee and a bit of chocolate. Bit oaty too. Taste is very creamy, nice milky chocolate. Very smooth. Everything you would expect from a beer like this and nothing that unusual, but still very nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Red Squirrel West Coast Stout on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. The Hope, Carlshalton. Opaque black beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light and airy and smooth with very fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, mildly tangy. A little lactose and smooth coffee. Mild tangy dark fruits. Semi dry finish. Just a nice stout in very good condition.

(Cask at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London, 6 Aug 2010) Very dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy beige head. Roasted, malty nose with coffee, liquorice and a hint of citrus. Roasted, malty taste with notes of chocolate, dark bread and a touch of citric hops in the finish. Rather light body, mainly dry. Well balanced and tasty stout. Nice one.

@Wenlock. Medium brown. Thin cask head. The aroma has lots of vanilla. Taste is fairly sweet, dominated by vanilla. Doesn’t come together - vanilla is the west coast of what? Madagascar?
