Barrel Aged fruity Sour Ale. Historical blend of a rustical saison of which half is aged 6 months in oak barrels which contained wine. Remarkably komplex, dinstinguished through the wild yeasts’ actions. Refreshring, well-balanced between sour and bitter notes, as well as an intensiv fruitiness. The ideal and surprising compromise between wide aromtatic complexity and a refreshing easy drinking beer.

Old bottle, can't tell how old. Purchased at Webb Chapel Beer. Major discount. Stemless wine glass back @the bnb. Opaque hard tea, lingering lace Tea, melon, bittergreen, lemon, sweat, slight dank. Tea, aged hops, slight astringency, lemon, veggies, some oxidation. Soft, persistent bitterness. Full carb, boozy for 6%, definitely oxidized. Still kinda good.

26 April 2022. At Hal 16 (Dok Brewing). Shared with the lovely Anke!
Clear golden, thin, off-white head. Aroma of wet straw, grass, hay, mandarin peel, lime. Taste has sweetish plum, sourish mandarin and apple, citric and funky hay aspects. Grassy hoppy finish with woody tannins, herbs and tart fruit. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Very solid Saison.

Pours a quite unattractive murky dark golden/light orange, with 1 finger of dense white head, which shows good persistence and very nice lacing. Rather strong aroma: a barely perceptible cereal/hay base, classic saison hints of earthiness, grassiness and spiciness overcome by averagely vivid sourness (mainly citric sourness), which brings notes of rather strong apricot and lemon. Taste follows the aroma closely, in a clean and well defined way, adding a very light funk/barnyard touch. Medium sweetness, medium bitterness, with excellent balance in both taste and aftertaste; vivid but not at all aggressive sourness. Medium or slightly sub-medium bodied, average carbonation (a bit sub-par for the saison style); very easy and smooth on the mouth, but still quite lively. Super refreshing, excellent balance, nice complexity. Very good stuff.

Farmhouse ale, or rather just sour ale, from this renowned and pioneering Swiss brewery, thanks Johan Lamarcq for sharing. Snow white, dense, moussy, slowly opening head on a hazy orange-tinged peach blonde beer. Aroma of green gooseberries, wild apples, yoghurt, raw rhubarb, sourdough, dust, dried rosemary, honey, lime juice. Crisp onset, lively carbonated, bit stingy even; impressions of apple peel and light gooseberry mixed with softer pineapple and peach notes, gently sour with a sweetish core; bready malts with a honeyish edge, dried by soft but persistent yoghurty lactic sourness, ending dryish and mildly bitter with a grassy hoppiness accentuating the drying sourness. Herbal notes of dried basil and rosemary appear as well, but everything is tied together nicely, making for a quenching, sour-bitterish, spicy finish. Very pleasantly and easily drinkable, ‘summery’, well-balanced sour ale, a ‘saison’ only in the Anglo-Saxon (sour) sense of the word and not so much in the traditional Belgian way, but certainly conveying BFM’s experience and craftmanship well.

(Bottle) Golden colour with firm, white head. Fruity, slightly sourish nose with orange, pineapple, honey, apricot marmalade and herbs. Fruity, slightly tart taste with notes of grapefruit, pineapple, apricots, slightly grainy malt, flowers, spices (cardamom) and a finish with a mild floral, citric bitterness and a gentle lactic acidity. Medium body, dry. Refreshing and really tasty, with a nice acidity and herbal wood character. Very nice.

Batch 3, funny seeing this randomly in a local store, was cheap too! Nice nose but also awfully light in flavor. Like a tease.
