On cask at British Oak, Mosborough - A deep black coloured beer with a wisp of whitish head. The aroma has smoky, roasted malts. The flavour is fruity and nicely burnt. Seems to be more of a mild with the mouthfeel and finish than a stout. Very nice.

Cask at the George on that there Strand, 23/01/14. Mid black with a good sized tan head that dissipates to a patchy pond. Nose is light roast, lactic ring to it, dark toffee fudge, earthy cocoa. Taste comprises toffee, dark fruits, cocoa, light roastage. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying finish. Ok stout but nothing I’d seek out again, not too much depth to it.

A mild textured stout with a decent aroma. It has a good body but it’s not backed up by any firm flavour or superior feeling in the palate.

Hand-pulled pint in Boston (Lincolnshire) at a Wetherspoons on 29 Mar 2013. Black looking brew with a tan coloured head of rich foam sat on top, the head staying around and giving some heavy lacing. Burnt and roasted malts fill the nose and carry on into the taste: dry and semi-bitter chocolate flavours along with some ground coffee take centre stage with a burntness that dominates the whole beer. OK: and certainly better than any of the bottled beers I’ve had from this brewery.

Cask at the Evening Star, Brighton. It pours opaque black, with a thin bubbly beige head. The nose is leather, wood, smoke, bacon and dark toffee. The taste is charcoal, toast, burnt caramel, chewy malt and liquorice, with a bitter-sweet finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Decent stuff.

Cask at The Harp, London. Pours ruby-brown with a foamy, white head. Mild roast aroma. Alright flavor, lots of bitter and dry roasted malts, a hint of tang. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Dry, bitter roast finish, slight ash, leaves, mild wood, mild earth. An alright beer. Seems a it off-centered but still alright.
