Named after the year Peter Walker patented the Burton Union system, 1838 is brewed exclusively on this historic set at Thornbridge. This premium pale ale showcases the finest ingredients, blending Maris Otter malt with Savinjski Goldings hops to create a full-bodied beer with a light amber hue. Expect rich, biscuity malt flavours, balanced by floral hop notes and a crisp, refreshing finish.

Bottle at The Wild Swan. It pours clear golden - blonde with a fluffy white head. The aroma is freshly baked bread, baked goods, bitter - sweet, fragrant, floral, crunchy digestive biscuit, oatcake and wood. The taste is firmly dry, bitter, crisp biscuity malt, toasty grains, varnished wood, leather, light tannin, earthy, pithy, zesty, twist of citrus, rather floral, grassy and summer meadow with a drying, floral finale. Medium body and fairly high (for Thornbridge) foamy carbonation. A very interesting offering. Rich, crisp, biscuity and floral. Nice depth of flavour. Would love to give this a go on cask

English:
Private import bottle through Phil Boutin
A cereal‑forward aromatic profile with subtle biscuit notes, but above all a clear hop presence with floral and herbal nuances.
Golden‑amber and bright, the liquid is topped with a medium‑thick, moderately persistent foam.
The flavor opens on cereal notes, with accents of complex grains, a touch of toasted bread, and floral and herbal hops leading to a finish where the bitterness is noticeable yet never aggressive.
A very subtle caramelized touch rounds out the palette.
The esters are low but still present.
A beer of great class, full of subtlety.
Quite appreciated!

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of clean cereal malt notes with some light grassy hops notes. Taste is also a mix of clean cereal noted with grassy hops notes and light residual sugar notes. Body is average for style with good carbonation. Highly drinkable and well brewed with loads of subtle flavors.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines. Faint haze on an orange gold. Thin white froth. Satsuma hops on top of lightly spicy grain. Well balanced bitter hop and semi sweet grain. Easy drinking tasty pale with a pleasantly bitter kick. Bet this is a blinder on cask, too.
