The Duck-Rabbit Brown Ale is an American brown brewed with loads of hops from start to finish (it’s hoppy and beautifully bitter). Amarillo boil hops provide a spicy citrusy bitterness. Saaz dry hops offer a refined flowery aroma. These hops are supported by seven varieties of malt. The Duck-Rabbit Brown Ale is a great choice for anyone who appreciates assertive hops and nutty toasted malt flavors – oh yeah!

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ home.[ Trade by GAManiac ]. Clear medium to light dark amber orange color with a huge, rocky, excellent lacing, fully lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, nutty, caramel, moderate hoppy, moderate yesty, spicy. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy nutty bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light metalic. [20090425]

One 5 oz sample of a 6 beer sampler at 3 son’s in Wexford, nice place. Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Supposedly by the DR owner. Looks a little darker than ginger ale. Mild hop fragrance on the nose. No head, just a tea froth. Nice earthy feel on the palate. Enjoyable fro a lager lover yet has some hop personality. Rather friendly at first then begins to morph into back of throat bitterness. Sparkles nicely in the glass. Medium bitter linger on the finish. DR brown S5L3F2T408

pours dark brown with light mocha head. Aroma, good hoppy nose with plenty of fresh lime/citronelle coming forward and a fruity nose that is close of pineapple, floral. Taste of roasted malts, note of coffee, palate becomes a whirlwind of flavors between the malts and the lime that make this one a unique brown ale with a nice floral hoppy finish.

Sampled in the presentation tent at WBF Raleigh. Ruby/brown color with a small head. Caramel and dark fruit aroma. Taste of dark fruits that fade quickly into hop bitterness. Interesting and complex. 6/4/7/4/15/3.7

Pours rather explosively, but under a semblance of control, with a very tall light brown head, excellent clear deep amber body with infrared edges and spotty lacing. The aroma is more than adequate for a brown with inviting nuttiness, roastiness and burnt toast. The taste is very similar with tasty medium to high roasted malts running along with nuttiness and an undercurrent of mild malt astringency. It leaves a nice roasty – toasty – malty taste behind into the after taste.

12 oz. bottle from Suttree. Pour is a clear rediish-brown with a big fluffy tan head. Beer sparkles in the glass, almost looks metallic. The head was very lasting, finally settling into a one inch rocky mousse. Aroma of cocoa and malt. Taste is pretty bitter, roasty (almost a charred taste) and some of the cocoa sweetness from the nose. Nice flavor, though the body was a bit thinner than I like for Brown Ales.

Bottle courtesy of Turdfurgeson: Poured a clear deep brown color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention. Aroma of deep caramel malt with some light molasses. Taste is also dominated by some sweet caramel malt as well as molasses with some light toffee notes. I also found it to be quite hoppy for the style but it still made enjoyable. Body is quite full with some good carbonation. Pretty good overall if maybe a tad too sweet for my liking.

Bottle. Black pepper, coffee and chocolate aroma - moderate astringency. Dark brown with nice big bead. Astringent charcoal wood flavor with hints of coffee and dark chocolate. A bit like a mix of brown ale and stout - on the harsh side of the style.

A deep red beer with a lazing light brown head - the color is not dark enough to be a brown ale! The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of berries. The flavor is sweet with light notes of roasted malt, nuts, and towards the end also metal. The end is slightly bitter. The carbondioxide tickles the tongue while drinking.
