The Duck-Rabbit Brown Ale is an American brown brewed with loads of hops from start to finish (it’s hoppy and beautifully bitter). Amarillo boil hops provide a spicy citrusy bitterness. Saaz dry hops offer a refined flowery aroma. These hops are supported by seven varieties of malt. The Duck-Rabbit Brown Ale is a great choice for anyone who appreciates assertive hops and nutty toasted malt flavors – oh yeah!

There is only so much you can do with a brown ale and these guys took a good stab at it. It has lots of roasted nuts in the aroma. The beere is very dark brown and well carbonated with a thick head. Flavor is malt and definitely bitter with more nuts. Well hopped. Thanks Suttree.

Bottle from ross - brown/copper pour with substantial head - somewhat weak aroma of roasted nuts, cocoa and a dried herb quality - dry and moderately bitter, with hints of cocoa, caramel, hazelnut - finishes even more dry, with some burnt coffee in the background, a touch of wood - not a bad effort, but not something I would seek out again.

Bottle from Ross! Thanks! Nose of caramel, chocolate and a little coffee. Transparent dark brown with a large tan head; Bitter hop flavor with some coffee notes. Smells different than it tastes.

Hazy dark chestnut colour. Head rises huge but gently falls to a rich, inch-thick layer. Great aroma of fresh toasted grains, layers of chocolate malt and earth and an appetizingly dusty yeastiness. The body starts creamy then gets fizzier. This means the front is dominated by sweet but simple brown sugar & deglet noor-ish malts but the end features deep dark chocolate, mocha and bitter, rooty hop textures. As brawny and complex a brown ale as I’ve found that still remains true to the style.

I am not that impressed by this brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with ruby highlights and a small tan head. The aroma is roasted malts and light chocolate. The flavor is rather bitter and has moderately strong roasty malts and a bit of coffee. The finish is bitter.

2005 bottle from Suttree! Pours a chestnut mahogany, with light red tints and a tan overtone. Head is beige and recedes quickly to a ring. Aroma of toasted/roasted malts, light burnt caramel. Hops are soily, farmy, lightly nutty and a touch bitter. Flavor is roasty, light licorice, sweet brown sugar mixed with hay and barley grains. Touches of chocolate and light almonds, walnuts and creme brulee. But not quite that sweet. The roast is dominant, but yet, though it is dry, it is not undermalted. Just roasty, dry and lightly bitter. Low carbonation. Clear, seemingly filtered and force carbonated, with a dry, lively texture and no alcohol. Clean with little to no yeast presence.

Clear deep ruby brown body that forms a huge tan head. Weak aroma. Weak flavor, some coffee notes that lead into a unpleasant astringent finish. Not worth finishing
