NWAF 25 Jan 13. Ultradyprød / svart. Veldig lavt lagskum - nærmest en tynn film. Svakt røstet aroma med innslag av karamell. Tynn på smak. Litt druer. Vassent helhetsinntrykk.

Served by hand pump at NWAF, half pint shared with Finn. Nice mahogany coloured body. Hints of dark berries to the nose. Mild taste of marmalade and roasted malts. Short ending, dry, watered in the mouth. Easy going mild (Manchester, 25.01.2013).

Pleasant tasting mild with a slightly smoked taste giving the ale a nice finish.

Liberty Bell Spoons. Clear dark amber beer, good pale tan head. Light dry palate with fine carbonation. Tangy apple! Dry finish. Appears to be to young and thus a bit rubbish!

Cask @ JDW Inverness 250312
Dark ruby...chestnut brown..thin rich off white head..little lacing
Aroma - hint of dark fruits...nothing else
Taste - light dark malts..bit of dark fruits...tiny dab of Vimto...slightly spicy..bit of weak black tea.. very subdued...bit boring
Palate - soft carb...very watery body. Finish as main flavour...soft dark fruit malt..clears quickly from palate.
Overall - A thirst quencher...but very little going on here

[Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading] Brown with a thick off-white head. There’s a hint of chocolate, a little woodiness and some faint roast malts, but it’s predominantly thin, watery and tasteless. One can imagine that this is the sort of mild that became famous as the post-work restorative that miners used to fill up on - you could drink many pints of this very fast without it touching the sides!

Cask at Penderel’s Oak, JDW, London. Pours clear brown with a creamy, light tan head. Nut much in the way of aroma, perhaps some faint fruit and nuts. Faintly sweet flavor, some semi-dark fruits, light rubber. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mild sweet finish, faint fruits. Very bland. Not impressed; this is pretty weak.

Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. Deep ruby with a ring of cream head; musty aroma with some purple fruit; soft and watery in the mouth with some sweet fruit turning slightly sour; and a dry cardboard finish. Looked good, but it went downhill from there.
