Brewed with Chocolate and Crystal malts to produce this deep bronze coloured beer with a hint of malty flavour, bittered by the traditional Golding hop varieties, this is a classic strong bitter complimented by the aromatic warmth of Chinese stem ginger.

(cask@The Meantime Old Brewery, SE London) Reddish amber/brown colour with almost no head at all. Aroma and taste of grainy malt, fruity hops and pine and the slight spice at the end is noticeable. Overall not bad (but less impressive compared to their "Summer" Meltdown for me. (D12)

Cask at the Green Dragon, Croydon. It pours at amber, with a decent white head. The nose is sweet tinned fruit (pear/apple), lemon sherbet, soap and spice. The taste is soap, leather, wood, resin and warming spice, with a bitter-dry finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Ok.

Cask@The Pullman Bar, Helsinki. Poured slightly hazy, copper color with a soapy white head. Aroma is peaches and unknown spices. Flavor is slightly sweet malty, biscuits, fruity and some spices. Bit odd actually. Drinkable but quite dull.

Cask (Guide Dog, Southampton) - Copper coloured. Malty, spicy and slightly biscuity aroma with notes of hops and ginger standing out. Biscuity, malty and warming taste with ginger being particularly noticeable in the finish as it leaves a warming, tingling sensation at the back of the throat.

Cask at the Old Fountain. Pours a clear, amber-brown with a light, bubbly head. Some ripe fruits and spices on the nose. Lightly sweet, malty base flavor with faint honey and understated nutmeg, then some orange rind and earth bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine, slightly tingly carbonation. Dries out just a touch in the finish, but the overall flavor impact that I am left with is a bit thin. There are some lingering, herbal hops on the sides of the mouth. The ginger adds a touch of sting on the throat. Overall a bit uninspiring, but drinkable.
