Our signature beer, Black Bavarian, is renowned for its drinkability. This light to medium-bodied Schwarzbier (black beer) features superb malt and hop complexity. Beneath the creamy tan head, within the lager’s smooth mouthfeel lie flavors and aromas suggesting dark roasted coffee, caramel and bittersweet chocolate. Masterful hopping makes Black Bavarian both lighter and drier than expected. It has a pleasingly long finish. The kind that lingers just enough between sips, the kind that makes this rich flavored brew so easy to drink.

Bottle Chris_o Shindig. Dark lager, pretty good. Good hop. Nice enough and my penultimate beer of the day.

This beer came in my beer club - I am not familiar with the brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bark black color with a large dark brown head. The aroma was roasty and bitter with a floral hop presence and a hint of coffee. The flavor was roasty, bitter and had a light coffee element. The finish was long and bitter.

Bottle. Dark, chestnut color and a small tan head. Lightlty roasted aroma with a weak cofffee note and some honey notes. Dry and roasted in the mouth, with coffee and a medium body. Dry finish as well, with burnt notes. A cross between schwarzbier and stout was my first though on this one. (070427)

16 ounce bottle from ogglethorp; Bonus from my want list! Nose of faint coffee, yeast, and a little cocoa; opaque ebony with a medium tan head; Flavors (all light) of coffee, chocolate, mild hop bitterness, and caramel emanted from the medium body and the hops lasted into a weakly bitter finish. I agrre it is a great Schwarzbier!

(Bottle 47 cl) Beautiful, clear mahogany with a tint of red and an off-white head. Lightly burned malt aroma. Medium body with sweetish and burned malt accents. A vague ashy edge and a malt bitter finish. 011206

Bottled. Dark brown colour, not much head. Aroma is hops and quite hayish. Some hints of roasted malts with black chocolate. Flavour is quite the same, but the roasted malts come in the strongest. The aftertaste is citrus fruity and also roasted malts. Wellbalanced.
