Cloudy brown beer. Softish palate and slightly dry. Unusual beer. Tangy malt with a sourish fruit undertone. Some repressed peach and aniseed in there. Rising alongside all of this is a pleasant and mellow smoky prescense. Very warming finish in a good way.

Dark amber with a small off-white head. Big aroma of malt, bacon smoke, dried fruit and dark bread. Sugary sweet malty flavour with lots of German bacon smoke and far less peat smoke. I had it fresh at release and somehow forgot to rate, but from memory, it has mellowed well, and lost some peat character that didn’t please me. 2022 from the cellar. Not as fresh anymore. Very plastic-y smoke.

Bottle at first DC tasting of 2010, thanks CaptainCougar. Cloudy copper color with almost no head or lacing. Aroma has vinegar, light smoke, and bac-o-bits. Lots of alcohol in the nose and on the palate. Very odd. Quite atypical for the style, would be hard to have more than one glass.

750ml bottle sampled at the DC Local tasting. Pours a hazy, cloudy amber with a cloudy white head. Aroma is nice, sweet, sticky fruits, bacon, smoke, a little woody. Flavor is big on the smoke, bacon, wood, sweet barleywine flavors too, caramel , cold smoke, honey, very sweet. Finish is a little hot. Again, the smoke is tough for me to get past.

Bottle courtesy hopscotch. Awesome. Smells a bit like wood, smoke, cheese and feet. Nice flavor combo of smoke and spicy hopping, biscuity malts. Smooth and well balanced on the whole. A great combo of complexity and ease.

On tap at Brewpub Copenhagen. It pours a slightly hazy orange-golden body with a beige head leaving some lacings. The aroma has smoke in the background, but malty sweetness and some nuts (?) are more pronounced. Sugar, caramel, some smoke, piney and citrusy hops in the flavor. Full-bodied, slightly sticky, warm mouthfeel. A lovely blend of alcohol burn and stinging hops in the finish. The beer is a nice blend of sugary malts and bitterness, combined with a subtle smoke in the background. A beer to sip and enjoy. Rating: 7-4-8-4-15-3.8. 080912
Bottle, 75cl corked. An almost clear, golden to amber body yields a creamy beige head. Some smoke, sweetness, beefstock, ham notes, hints of candy and fruits, resiny hops and some alcohol in the aroma. The flavor is pretty much the same, with the smok slightly more pronounced and the alcohol giving a nice warmth to this full-bodied and smooth beer. It rounds off with a nice, lasting bitterness. After almost a year of cellaring I think it has improved quite a lot. It was a nice beer when released, now it has rounded off and is both tasteful and mellow. Pity it was a one-off. 090724
