75cl bottle. Thanks to TheWolf. Pours unclear amber with a stable white creamy foam. Nose is nutty, earthy & sour. Bites the cheek. Vinous & lots of wood & dark fruits. Ends very dry. Great!

Blind tasting
Bottle, best before 2006, served by Olivier on 9/28/07
Mildly hazy, cherry-red with some maroon hues mixed in. Large, rocky, off-white head is dense and recedes stubbornly to cover, leaving plenty of lacing.
As the cork comes off, a strong aroma of cherries makes its way from the bottle. Further inspection reveals chocolate and caramel malt notes with a soft, plastery yeast underneath and light to moderate acidity, though not identifiable as brett or lacto. Pretty unique and interesting, despite the fact that it seems a bit too sweet in the nose and for an obvious attempt at a Flemish Sour, it needs more sour. Of course when its revealed that this is the mild, it makes perfect sense. I definitely thought there were cherries added, as the Pediococcus? must be producing this note. It certainly isnt the malt or saccharomyces. Medium-high strength of aroma, well-concealed alcohol and no flaws.
Not as sweet, or dominantly so, as the aroma might suggest, and the cherry notes are not as prominent. Soft, supple, unfiltered body with low carbonation, leaving it somewhat loose on the end. LOTS of vanilla-like notes, with chocolate and light caramel malts, meet some moderate acidity, enough that you know there is some wild yeast at work here (the barrels must not be very well sterilized....). It’s definitely not bretty or lactic though. Regardless of the enjoyable pediococcus (assumedly), the saccharomyces could have done a little bit more to get rid of some of this excess sweetness. Enjoyable though, and nothing to complain about.

2011-07-14, half bottle, bottled 2006-07, 5 years old, 7-4-7-3-15=36
Dark brown color; the carbonation is low, and there is a small frothy head. Aroma with notes of caramel, wine, wood, light vinegar. Good body strength; also because of the low carbonation, the mouthfeel is quite round and smooth; there is a good flavor of caramel, with a nice woody trace and just light sourness; also a light fruity touch. The final is getting weaker, without much bitterness, and a bit dusty.
The age has softened this beer, creating some harmony, although it won’t probably get any better because of the lack of acidity.

Exuberant bottle; pours a hazy dark amber color with not much head. The aroma has some caramel, sweet wood and mild vanilla. Good body strength, some malt and soft caramel, smooth mouthfeel and a very pleasant vanilla flavor. The final is too weak and short, not enough bitter. A pleasant Bourbon Strong Ale.

Bottle, 8%. Weakly sour aroma. Cloudy orange/brown colour with small floaties at the bottom. Small, light brown, big-bubbled head. Sour flavour, malty and woody, all in good balance. Nice subtle sourness in the finish, too. Harmonious and strangely drinkable.

Cloudy amber. Aroma of wood, hints of vague fruits and nuts. Toasty, with light fruits. Hints of oiliness. Yeah, this is kind of bland. Needs more tartness.

Bottle:Cloudy, clumps of yeast visible, very stable, thick foamy layer; solid fruity (berries), a bit sweaty nose with - nomen est omen - a decent touch of barrique and a tinge of balsamico; velvet MF, quite full bodied, sweet, a bit sourish flavour; vinous-fruity, sweet and a bit "woody" finish. Very good stuff, mille grazie joss !

Bottle: Poured an hazy dark brown color ale with a medium head with average retention. Aroma of cookie dough is quite discreet with some Belgian yeast also noticeable. Taste of cookie dough malt but with limited sweetness with a weird slightly funky finish. Body is above average with no discernable alcohol. Not exactly sure what the brewery was trying to do but this one lacks characteristics.

Bottled at RBESG2006 - Thx KnutAlbert. Quite ridiculous to bring the three Panil beers from Italy, through Norwegian customs, and then back in to the EU, but greatful I am. It pours hazy golden-orange with a small beige head. Lovely aroma, sour and citric, with apples, yeast and barnyard notes. The flavor is both sweet and tart, quite sugary with some kind of brown sugar, and yeast. Medium, astringent mouthfeel and a long fruity finish with some alcohol an citric notes. Nice Co2 level. The beer gives a really artisanal impression. (060825)
