Bottle split at the Autumn Watford tasting, thanks to LKS, 24/09/21. Lightly hazed mahogany brown with a beige covering. Nose is dried fruits, nutty, oxidised aroma, biscuit, toffee. Taste comprises stewed fruits, dark malts, light oxidisation, soy sauce, raisins. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. Not bad for the age.

Bottle shared in Watford - picked up from GBBF. Pours clear copper with no head. Light to medium sweet, pretty well oxidised, a smattering of berries, nips of caramel. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Sweet finish, meaty hops, more caramel. So so.

Deep super muddy brown coloured body with a rich amber and ruby tint and literally no head at all - no carbonation and no noise when the top was opened. Aroma of very nice rich raisins, figs, earth, prunes, alcohol, caramel, toffee, cherries and a hint of sour grapes noticeable - very complex smells. Full-bodied; Rich earthy and pit fruit flavours dominate the taste with a hint of alcohol and brandy noticeable, some lighter pear, apple and currant flavours also show through. Aftertaste is very mild with the earth and alcohol coming through, but with no carbonation at all, this is pretty underwhelming with the lightest hints of licorice and leather and very little else. Overall, an interesting beer and definitely not worth keeping it for so long, but it was my last beer to age from England until I purchased a new one - so this one had to be drunk. If you still have a bottle of this around, itโs best to crack it open now and get it over with - there isnโt much point in saving this when the space can be held by much better beers. Still - great to try and I remember picking this one up, now I remember drinking it. I sampled this 27,5 cL bottle purchased from the Utobeer Market Stall in Borough, London, England on 08-March-2008 for ยฃ5,50, sampled at home in Washington on the other side of the pond on 26-May-2014. Best By Date on Bottle (Bottle #4458?): 28 October 2009 // Purchased in London on 08 March 2008 // Sampled in the USA on 26 May 2014

Hazy amber beer, no real head. Smooth palate but zero carbonation. Sourish yeasty malt. Dried fruits. Marmite. Tastes like JW Lees on steroids! Finishes smooth. Takes some getting used to but drinkable.

Bottle 27,5 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Hazy orangey golden with a tiny, rough off-white head. Intense aroma of nuts, wood and old cheese. Quite full-bodied with absolutely no head, notes of nuts and tart fruit. Somewhat astringent finish. 190209
