Pareto (Port Wine BA) is a monumental wee heavy aged to perfection in port wine barrels for 12 months. Decadent caramel sweetness cut with oak and notes of port wine. Luscious brew suitable for slow sipping.

Hazy amber - brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, decent fine carbonation. Soft malts, a little sweetness, trace of caramel - chocolate. A distinct woody streak, very mildly bitter. Port barrel comes through loud and clear. Ripe porty berries and a little spicy dark berries. Smooth and fairly dry finish. Joins up well, a richer smoother malt base would have really sent this in to the 4s. As it stands, a flavoursome well barrelled affair that elevates this oft dull style into something much better. Good stuff.

Bottle. Dark brown pour. Aroma of rich tawny port, oak, ripe red fruit, vanilla, caramel, cherry and tannine. Taste has smooth red fruit, vanilla, oak, vinous tannine, cherry, caramelised malt and a somewhat boozy port-rich finish. Great dessert wine beer.

Schade!

Bottled 330ml (UJH)
Dark brown colour, medium-sized brownish head. Wood, some tartness, red wine tannines in the nose. Medium to full-bodied. Oak-wood, sweetish raisiny notes, port wine -notes, light tannines. Port wine barrel is evident here but base beer itself is not too exiciting. But quite sippable.
