Crafted with an expert blend of premium Pale Ale, Maris Otter, Wheat, Crystal, and Roasted malts, this session beer delivers a perfectly balanced malt backbone. The subtle caramel and toasted notes from the malts complement the gentle bitterness of Challenger, Goldings, and East Kent Goldings hops, creating a symphony of flavour in every pint.
The result is a classic best bitter with a smooth, warming malt character and a crisp, refreshing finish that lingers just long enough to invite another sip.
ABV 4.0%—the perfect choice for when you're in the mood for something flavourful yet easy-drinking.

500ml bottle. Clear copper with a small off-white head. Aroma of biscuity and caramel malts with a distinct fruity edge, almost apple like which made me wonder if it's actually Acetaldehyde? Odd but not a bad smell at all. Taste is more resinous than the aroma suggested, caramel, biscuity malts, fruity, hoppy bitterness. Light-medium bodied.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Clear amber with consistent small off-white head. Aroma is big on toasted malt and nuts, quite dry, some sweetness and straw. Toasted malt comes through in flavour, semi-dry and bitter grassy finish. Light to medium bodied. Its ok.

29th April 2024; Monthly Beer Share in Chez Sophie (Shrewsbury), five guys and loads of beer! 500ml bottle brought by me; BBE December 2024. Clean amber pour, white crown. Malt forward with some decent fruity hop action, nice old school bitter feel to it.

Bottle online from The Cheddar Brewery. Pours a clear copper colour with a medium sized creamy off white head. Aromas of toffee, caramel, bread and biscuits. Taste is more toffee and caramel, more bread and biscuits, some peppery spice with a leafy hop bitterness on the finish. Nicely balanced. Full body, fairly low carbonation and smooth oily mouthfeel. Very good above average traditional English Best Bitter.

500ml bottle. Certified Gluten Free. Coppery amber colour, white foam head, some sediment and malty, bready aroma. Taste is malt, grain, fruity with caramel, toffee, nutty notes and some tangy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry metallic bitter finish. OK.

Best bitter from a local brewery in Cheddar, big thanks to Jean for the bottle. Papery lacing, egg-white, moussy, stable head over a hazy copper-tinged amber coloured beer with dark dots of dead yeast floating around in the end. Aroma of soggy toast, egg yolk (yeast autolysis, no doubt), dried garden herbs, camomile, fried tomato peel, dried apricots, butter, white pepper. Dried peach and apple peel fruitiness in the onset, dryish with medium carbonation, supple, lightly buttery mouthfeel, a tad oily. Butterscotch- and lightly peanut-like malt body, hoppy finish with a soft but effective, bit resiny bitterness to it, very floral, bit peppery. Well-balanced, quenching, correct but very traditional English bitter.

Bottle courtesy of Barry and Lynn (cheers you two!) consumed at home Sunday 27th August 2017 with Lynn and Barry after a few beers up the Crown. Copper coloured bitter that is fruity and quite traditional in style. This could do with being a little more bitter and interesting but nonetheless will appeal to tradionalists, I didn’t dislike it, in fact it was fine just lacked a bit in all departments. Bottle. Beautiful copper coloured. Small head which disappears immediately. Weak aroma of malts only. Taste is caramell, biscuit, bread and bitter hops. Dry finish. Very low carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel. Ordinary but decent Bitter. I could spend a night with this one.
