(Bottle) Very dark brown, almost black, with ruby notes when seen through light. Frothy, beige head. Roasted nose with distinct notes of coffee and hints of liquorice and roasted oat flakes. Roasted taste with notes of chocolate, liquorice and distinct notes of dark bitter coffee in the finish. Slightly bitter-sweet, vinous notes tend to take away some of the balance. Medium to full body, solid malt background. Tasty and rather complex, but wouldn’t suffer from better balance among all the grains and hops. Actually reminds me of a dark bock with the roasted malts of a porter.

Draught at Plan B
Dark color; creamy head. As Andre confirms, the aroma shows some infection. Luckly the infection is much less evident in the flavor, where we find a good combination of caramel and roasted malt, a soft mouthfeel and a long ending bitterness.

Bottle at Frederikshavn øl- og vinfestival 07. Sweet liquorice aroma. Almost black colour, very small head. OK roasted flavour with some spicy liquorice. Not too powerful, but OK. The aftertaste is a little fruity which I find a bit strange in this beer.

500ml bottle (bryg 11). Brown-yellow body under a rustic foamy head. Burnt dark malty smell. Lots of roastiness in taste related to grains, dark chocolate and coffee - and a brush of liquorice. Nice bitter ending (14.01.2007).

50 cL bottle. Pours black with short lasting head. Aroma is roasted malts, sweetness and alcohol I sense some Cascade aroma hops. Taste is first the roasted malts, followed by sweetness and fruity hops which turns into a light bitterness. Hard to make out any of the 4 grains. Good porter, well balanced.

Bottled at Horsens Beerfestival. Black beer with a small tan head. Chocolate, coffee, some sour notes, fruit, dried fruits and roastyness in the aroma. The flavor is chocolate, coffee, bitterness and hints of sourness. Almost full-bodied. A nice beer, but nothing too special about it. (061028)
