Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. First pint out since you-know-what. Dark gold and just a little bit hazy with a fine white head and considerable lacing. Slightly woody aroma with some hay, some honey. Notable astringency in the bitter taste. Long astringent aftertaste. An unremarkable bitter, but it is nice to get some proper bitterness in a beer after six months of mostly sweet pales and stouts.

Cask at the Black Country Arms, Walsall. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a frothy white head and a little broken lace. The aroma is light malt hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light malt, hop bitter, light pepper spice palate. Moderate to light bodied with soft carbonation. A fine session bitter.

Two hand-pulled pints in The Cock Hotel, Wellington on 29th Dec 13. Clear golden body with a good white crown. The nose was a sweet, fruity, floral affair with an apple blossom sort of aroma at it’s heart. The taste was not so sweet as the smell had suggested, this is semi-bitter with a dry finish. Well balanced though, there is an underbelly of malts trying to get out: they fail but you know they are there. Medium bodied and light on the palate: easy drinking brew, worth finding.

Cask at Post Office Vaults, Birmingham
Hazy golden color. Both aroma and flavor are lightly yeasty, the flavor is lightly cheesy too; besides that, it’s a plain Golden Ale.
The cheesy yeast character is probably unintended, the beer is anyway pleasant and different.

Cask-conditioned at the Staffordshire Beer festival, Seven Stars, Bristol 6/10/10. Deep gold with a slight, off-white head. Apricot and peach aroma, with caramel and floral hops. Flavour had more fruit, a suggestion of honey and decent, bitter finish. Fine.

Cask gravity at Ealing BF 2009. Gold, thin bubbly beige head. Yeasty, it’s a bitter, not a bad bitter actually, quite a decent bitter.

Cask at The Hillsborough Hotel, Sheffield, ’The Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire’ on the Valley of Beer Day 16-08-08 Pours warm gold in colour with a thin rim of white bubbles. Tangy, light fruity tasting beer with a good bite. The nose is not great with a hint of sourness detected which at first suggested to me that this beer might not be in tip top condition but looks and flavour would suggest that its ok, which would conclude to me that the beer is just merely alright, could do better as many of my school reports quite accurately implored of me.
