Bottle @ Ølkonsortiet christmas beer tasting, served cold. Pours deep brown, no head. Aroma of red wine, sour cherries, cinnamon. Taste is red wine, sour cherries, raisins, cinnamon and other xmas spices, like Danish "Gløgg". Medium body, low carbonation. Very sweet and abit cloing. 051111

Shared 750ml bottle. Poured a red cherry color, absolutely no head - virtually no carbonation visible. Aroma was cherries, touch of mint I suppose, kind of medicinal in aroma. Flavor is tart cherries, a bit medicinal. It was okay - I see where they were going with this one, but I didn’t particularly enjoy this one as much as I had hoped. I’d rather just drink Founders Cerise for a cherry fix.

750 mL bottle, marked best before 31-12-2025. First served chilled. Light haze, bright red-orange brown, with no head. Extreme cherry aroma, sweet and tart, medicinal, spicy cinnamon. Cherry cinnamon flavor as well, syrupy and sweet, like cherry liquorice. Lightly medicinal.

Next up: heated. Heating creates a thin white foam. Cinnamon becomes more prominent in the aroma, and the aroma gets more boozy. Flavor is now thinner with alcohol and just notes of cherry and spice. While an interesting idea, heated Quelque Chose definitely isn’t my thing.

Finally: near room temperature, specifically I’ve allowed the rest of the bottle to keep warming while I tried the heated version. This is a more balanced version of the chilled beer, less syrupy. Pretty nice.

Summary: It’s worth trying just a little of it heated for the heck of it, but it’s much nicer at normal temperatures. A rather odd beer, but I certainly end up liking it.

Bottle I brought back from my Maine trip. Pours out mahogany/brown topped with a small head. Aroma was of cherry syrup, spice, pit fruit, dark chocolate, and rich malt. Taste is as the nose but with a lot of the cherry syrup and over sweet pit fruit.

Head is just a isolated little bubbles. Red-brown body. Waxy cherry aroma with cinnamon, cloves, and allspice. That is, rather like Norwegian gløgg. Sweetish pumpkin and cherry taste with gløgg notes. Fullish body. Hottish flat mouthfeel. Dry waxy alcoholic cherry aftertaste with cinnamon and honey notes. Nice, unusual, drinkable, but could use more CO2. (0.5l bottle shared by Ole_R.)

2002 vintage cold: cloudy dark orange brown, very small bubbly head. cherry aroma, marcipan, tartness. flavor is sweet cherries, nice bitter sourness, lots of sweetness too, making it all in total a little bit too sweet and slightly cloying. well blended flavor. 7,2,6,3,13 warm in a cup alc. almonds in the aroma. stings in the nose. reminds me slightly of cheap glogg. 5 brown no head,2 flavor is raisins, faint cherries, spices, faint citrussy notes. doesn’t taste like beer or sour beer at all. This one was in my cellar for over 2 years. Was given to me for my birthday by BenDover. Pours a clean red colour with a touch of orange. Not much head to this one, just a slight ring around the collar. The nose is cherries, but moslty raisins and spices. Not much tart in the mouthfeel, quite clean and watery. The taste is mildly sweet with cherries, but then becomes more spicy than sweet, with cinnamon and apple flavours. When warmed up, it becomes more smooth, less spicy. Remids me of the hot apple cider I buy on the canal when skating. Was expecting more on the kriek side, but this is far from this. Still, very exciting and different.
