Originally rated February 2005. This Danish Amber Lager poured an nice amber colour but the head did not have much retention. Carbonation was medium and some lacing was left on the glass. Slight aromas of sweet malt. Taste was a bit bitter with a smooth cereal aftertaste. Not much here, but a better looking beer for those swill nights.

33 cL bottle. Pours deep golden brown/orange with a light off-white head. Sweet caramel malt and slight mouldy aroma. Caramel malt flavoured, clear sweetness, but just enough to balance well with the bitterness into the finish.

Bottle. Clear amber color with a good lacing average to large white head. Aroma is light malty, caramel, and light hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and light hoppy, refreshing but commercial and boring. Body is light, texture is watery, carbonation is soft.

500ml Can: Poured a clear and light amber color beer with a big white foamy head with good retention. Aroma of nutty malt is the only noticeable thing. Taste of lightly sweet nutty malt with a clear finish which very little or no hops included in this beer. Overall, this is a bland and boring but refreshing Vienna.

(Bottle 33 cl) Nice, pale brownish colour with a decent head. Weird phenolic tang in the first sip, but thankfully it vanishes. Very dry, malty body. Not much sweetness, nor bitterness. Not really thrilling. First berwed as a 100 year jubilee beer for Faxe in 2001. 031001

2005, I assume, pub can provided by tiggmtl with Muzzlehatch tagging along as usual, too (can’t ever get rid of that guy!). Sampled on 6/4/05. Served in a chouffe tulip, La Chouffe, to be precise, at a little over 45 degrees F. Color is a bright orange-golden, with ripe peach tones throughout, crystal clear, highly filtered, no doubt. Head begins about a centimeter high, is white and bubbly (large, evil, forced CO2 bubbles), and recedes (fizzles) away in to the void, in no time at all. Need I say there was no lacing? Aroma begins with corn, has corn in the middle and ends with some corn. Though there is a bit of sugary sweet malt, some honey butter on cornbread, if you will. Touches of dry bitterness can be pulled from the tulip, probably more credit to the glass than the beer. Flavor includes such exciting notes as corn, quickly fermented powdery, sugared breadiness, and artificially sweet candied fruits (peaches and oranges mainly). There is some bitterness, hard to tell if it is a metallic bitterness, or just some hops extract, there is certainly no trace of hops flavor. Where are the light roasted grain notes and rich caramel presence? Body is thin, carbonation is offensively unbalanced (too much) and the finish is stale, cheap and mocks a really enjoyable style. Though, for sure, I’ve had worse.

Light amber with a thick offwhite head. Caramel malts aroma with diacetyl-butterscotch. Matly with a taste of boiled corn, with very loight hops. Medium body. This is good for a Faxe (well if there is such a thing).
