A dark clear stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, light sweet chocolate malt with light coffee, faint phenolic, OK. In mouth, a smooth fruity chocolate malt with light peated notes, grassy hops, nice. BB 2009. OttBottShare March 2014.

Vintage bbf 11.8.2007 kindly gifted to me from faroeviking. Has been kept dark and cellar cold all time. tasted 2-10-2010 pitch dark, smooth light brown head. aroma of chocolate, coffee, faint roasted grains. flavor is chocolate, roasted grains, bitterness, coffee bitterness. mild but full bodied stout with notes of coffee and chocolate and of course roasted grains. towards the end a faint grassy , herbal bitterness that is probably the pretty well aged hops showing themselves. Although 3 years past bbf it has kept very well, and mellowed a lot, appears well blended.

Pitch black color. Coffee and dark chocolate, but mouth is fairly thin. Not really interesting.

Bottle: Poured a deep pitch-black color stout with a super huge foamy white head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of light dry coffee and black chocolate is more subtle then I had anticipated. Taste is not overly complex and easily enjoyable with some subtle coffee and back chocolate note with a lightly sweet malt bill. Body is average for the style with great carbonation and no alcohol. Very well done overall but lacking some character.

On tap at EBF 08. Black, some ruby brown hints. Thick lasting beige head. Pleasant roasted aroma, very good fruit, blackcurrant. Decent dryness on finish. That’s a gorgeous stout. Tad of charcoal, full in mouth. Best straight stout of the festival so far. Slight smoke, full and tasty.
