A beautiful, dark red beer, a head is quite small and beige. Aroma has huge amount of spices, cinnamon, ginger, pomerans, cardemum, also berries of red currants and richness of red wine. All these complex aromas are nicely balanced and pleasant. Taste has strong spicyness, but not so dominantly as in the aroma. Cinnamon, cardemum, ginger, fruitness, some cherries and roastiness. Surprisingly light, only medium bodied. Balanced even the huge amount of spices, the nice beer also in the middle of Summer as today.

Deep dark amber coloured body with a nice thick, four centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of spices, herbs, grain, alcohol, malt and a lot of deep pitted fruits. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong malty flavours at first with bunches of spices showing allspice, coriander seed, nutmeg, canella and even some cloves. Aftertaste shows a robust complexity with malt, brown sugars, some grain, yeast, pit fruits and toffee all around - very nice. Overall, a very good complex spice-based beer with a lot of malt, alcohol and sweetness around! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased at Whole Foods in New York (Bowery), New York on 27-May-2016 for US$9,99 sampled at my hotel in Lower Manhattan on 27-May-2016 a few minutes later. Rating for this Sample: 8,4,8,4,16 Rating #2: Deep, fairly hazy brown and amber coloured body with a thick, three to four centimetre tall off-white head that shows nicely and stays afloat for a long time. Aroma of very spicey, nutmeg, canella, allspice and caramelised sugars with some molasses and a nice balance of rich toasted malts with some oaky dryness noticeable and a good hit of alcohol here as well - but fairly spicey in a good way in the nose. Medium-bodied; Strong rich malt notes show at first with a lot of alcohol and depth and a nice spiciness which persists throughout, really showing the canella and allspice, but some toffee and anise does come through near the tail end. Aftertaste is rich, robust and very sweet, with the caramelised sugars, molasses and brown sugar elements the strongest, but some nuttiness is noticeable at the end with a mild almond-like bite. Overall, a nice brown ale with good spices, but not overwhelming and a rich sweetness, but again, not cloying. Great to sample and well worth trying to find and enjoy around Christmas or like me - right in the middle of the year to remind yourself how great Christmas really is! I sampled this 65 cL bottle, purchased from K-1 Beer and Wine in Arlington, Virginia on 03-February-2018 for US$5,99 sampled about two and a half years later on 19-June-2021, at my house here in Washington on 19-June-2021 for a Father's Day celebration with my family. Rating for this Sample: 9,3,8,4,15

On tap at The Wine Bar Destin. Pours a cloudy copper brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is cinnamon, nutmeg, chocolate. Thin mouthfeel with strong spices, cinnamon, caramel, rich malt, hides alcohol well, very good.

Bottle split at Pedro leaving drinks, thanks to LKS, 24/04/15. Lightly hazed amber with a decent beige cap that dissipates edge ward. Nose is fruit cake, spice, rich malt, herbal tones, toffee, brown sugar, pumpkin. Taste comprises rich fruit cake mix, dates, clove, icing sugar, toasted sugar, winter cheer. Medium body with bite, fine carbonation, drying close. Xolid flavoursome affair for the style.
