Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell during the Peter’s leaving do. Picked up at CPK about four years ago. Pours clear amber with a creamy off-white head. Despite the beer’s age, the aroma is outrageously pungent, with lots of Christmas fruitcake, candied fruits, cinnamon, stewed apples. Medium sweet flavor with some rich fruitcake, bread, toasted grains, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, some booze. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish, a little sticky sweet, with buckets of wintery spices, fruitcake, ripe berries, some toffee. Rich. Very tasty for a spiced winter beer.

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours clear deep red-brown with a small white head. The nose is earthy, rather spicy, earth, root vegetables, some acidity, light vinegar and tang. The taste is bitter-sweet, earthy, caramel, spicy, brown bread, festive action, fruit cake, carrot cake, toffee, toasty brown sugar, light booze and umami with a dry, spiced finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A bit chewy. Not bad at all.

Kind of a syrupy mess with a whole bunch of desert and spice thrown in. Reminds me of a pumpkin beer, but done Christmas style. Lots of cinnamon, clove or nutmeg in this. Tap at Churchkey.

(Bottle) Red colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, spicy nose with notes of cinnamon, apple pie, gingerbread cake, orange peel, dried fruit, dried apricots and ginger. Malty, spicy taste with dried fruit, orange peel, cinnamon, ginger, apricots, gingerbread cake and a spicy bitterness in a finish with a touch of alcohol shining through. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and very spicy, with lots of cinnamon and ginger. Actually a bit too much spices to be perfectly balanced. Still quite nice.

bottle from Bierkompass. Deep brown, beige head. Aroma of Christmas pudding. Full-bodied, quite sweet with lots of spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, clove, star anis... Good - like liquid Christmas Pudding!

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, 2012 vintage. Pours lightly cloudy dark ruby red color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big raisin, apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, caramel, gingerbread, toast, nutmeg, and herbal earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and spice notes; with good strength. Taste of raisin, apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, toast, nutmeg, caramel, gingerbread, clove, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of raisin, apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, toast, molasses, gingerbread, nutmeg, clove, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity of malt and spice flavors; with a great malt/spice balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent imperial winter warmer. All around great balance and complexity of malt and spice flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
