Can, 2024 edition. Color: Black, brown head. Aroma: Boozy, rye Whiskey, roasted malt. Taste: Smooth, a bit creamy mouthfeel. spcicy rye Whiskey notes, dark chocolate and roasted malt. Moderate bitter hoppy backbone. Over moderate sweet. Over medium to full body, below average carbonation. Barrel is clearly overwhelming the base beer, yet enjoyable. Nice slow sipper.

Panda. Big thanks to Cloin. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Airy palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Floral chocolate malts, sweetish. A little dark chocolate Malteasers. Decent fruity whiskey, slightly tangy and quite ripe. Light and semi dry finish. A flavoursome brew for sure but doesn't quite sing in the way you might hope.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 23/11/23. Black with a tan cap that thins to spotting and the edge. Nose is ripe old rye whisky, dried fruit rinds, dates, dark malts, toffee fudge, molasses, toasted brown sugars, boozy nostril massage. Taste comprises chocolate, light coconut shavings, rye barrel, nutty, dark malts, figs, toffee fudge, dates. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Solid sipper ... gets over the rye aspect well, not always a thing when rye barrel is listed.

Can picked up from the brewery itself. It pours jet black with a small tan head. The aroma is heady notes of rye whiskey, bitter - sweet, cinder toffee, booze soaked oak, chocolate gateaux, vanilla, mars bar, toasted marshmallow, tunnocks teacakes, neopolitan ice cream and whiskey fudge. The taste is slick, oily, dark roasted malt, bitter - sweet, charred oak, plenty of rye whiskey, vanilla, toasted marshmallow, some jamminess, jammy wagon wheel, plenty of chocolate, gateaux, cake frosting, pleasing alcohol boost, some tar, rocky road, brownies and a nip of spice with a bitter, dry roasted finish. Fulsome body and moderate carbonation. Flavourful and strikes a nice bitter - sweet balance. My favourite out of the 2023 batch. Moreish, never too sweet. Tasty and boosty.
