500ml bottle. Poured a crystal clear copper colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is caramel malt, sweet fruits, dry hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light, watery metallic hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle from Lidl, Todmorden. Copper-amber with next to no head. There’s a few grainy malts in its nose, with a crispness in its taste, which is a fairly ordinary malty bitter.

500ml bottle from my Aberdeen friend. Nose is lightly caramel and spicy. Clear dark copper with a medium, lightly lacing light beige head. Flavor is bitter with some light caramel. Pretty good and drinkable.

Clear 500ml bottle: well in date when poured into my Abbot Ale glass tankard on 19th Aug 2012. Reddy brown body with an off-white head: malts rule the roost here both in the aroma and the taste. The body was thin and a bit ’fizzy’ in my eyes, pleasant enough but lacking depth of flavour. Yet again, another cheap supermarket brew without any ’craft’ from Shepherd Neame: I’ve been kind with my scoring.

500ml bottle from an off licence store in Chorlton. Pours a huge , beige head fading over a clear, golden-brown coloured body. Moderate aroma of malts mixed with leafy hops. Taste of nutty malts and leafy hops. Subdued bitter end. Soft in the mouth. Quite alright (hotel room Manchester, 07.07.2012).

500ml bottle from Lidl. Reddish chestnut with a loose cream head; typical Shep aroma; pleasant caramel malt flavour; with some fresh Kent hops giving a lingering lightly bitter finish. Rather good.

500ml bottle. Pours a dark caramel with a large head. Aroma is sweet, spicy toffee with classic Sheps. Taste starts with some spicy bread. Bready toffee on the finish. Little too much carbonation.
