Barrel Aged Bomb! is the result of our world famous imperial stout, Bomb!, that was tucked away in wooden barrels for several months. Vanilla and caramel notes balance the big flavors from the whiskey barrels and come together for an extremely complex yet balanced experience.

Bottle. First live rate of 2017! Pours black with small tan head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong wood, whiskey, roast, vanilla. Medium body, nice roast coffee, milk chocolate, wood, nice whiskey, light vanilla, spice, very nice.

Tap at Churchkey into snifter showing pitch black with no head. The nose shows strong vanilla balanced with dark roasted coffee into caramel, mocha, and milk chocolate notes. The palate is full bodied and lightly carbonated. Milk chocolate forward with further flavors of a dark roasted coffee in the background. A very strong alcoholic spiciness throughout; the chili doesn’t follow up as nicely due to the aggressive alcohol - I usually like a slight warmth on the back end. The finish is a toasted and burnt bitterness that is slightly unpleasant. Strong alcohol spice and chili

Draft at Belgium Chimipalooza. Creamy, dense, light beige head, opaque black colour. Rich and absolutely stunning aroma of espresso, wet wood, whisky, chocolate sauce and chocolate liqueur, bitter fondant, burnt tree branches, black tea, hazelnut, charcoal, pipe tobacco. Cured meat umami flavours, restrained dried fruit sweetishness, soft carbo, thick, creamy and oily mouthfeel, nutty and deeply bitter chocolate malt body, full with a light roasted barley sourishness, drying wood effects in the finish, coffee touch, lovely retronasal vanilla and chocolate, warming alcohol with a hint of chili heat but only very subduedly so without actual ’burn’. The already fantastic Bomb! has received an extra flavor dimensions here and it fits perfectly.

Bottle. A- Bourbon, oak, chocolate, vanilla, subtle chilies. A- Black color, black liquid, minimal head. T- Bourbon, oak, chocolate, vanilla. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, full finish. O- Definitely plenty of bourbon in here! A bit of the oak from the bourbon as well. A nice change to the regular bomb and really balanced.
