A burly export stout loaded with our bourbon barrel-aged coffee beans. We’ve had great success with Black House & Monsters’ Park dosed with barrel-aged coffee, but we wanted to design a beer from scratch specifically to feature these beans. Full-bodied and a touch sweet, City of the Dead will be explosively aromatic and saturated with barrel-aged coffee character.

Draft pour at Cooper's Alehouse, Seattle. A near black pour, slight ruby tint. Coffee roast forward aroma. Inviting. Morning time feel. A bit of a mocha flavor. Good chocolate presence. Toasty malt. Medium thickness for a stout. Coffee bean like lingering bitterness, but with a mellowing caramel note. Good stout overall. Would love this in an AM setting.

Bottle: Poured a black color stout with a nice large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt notes with black cholate note and some bourbon notes with floral coffee notes. Taste is a mix of bourbon notes with some black chocolate notes, roasted malt with nice floral coffee notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Nice level of complexity, balance and good overall drinkability.

650ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting and lacing, tan head. Roasty dark malty aroma, notes of mocha and dark chocolate, a touch of burnt caramel. Taste is slightly bitter, roasty dark malty, hints of residual dark malty sweetness, notes of dark chocolate, mocha, a touch of burnt caramel; some liquorice in the finish. Smooth, soft and silky palate. Very homogeneous, focused, clean and highly drinkable.

Bottle from BBWest. Pours black. Aroma is pure coffee beans, freshly roasted, incredibly intense, chocolate and mocca. Body is medium, nicely sweet and bitter with an astounding balance. Coffee been flavours, low bourbon. Lively and very present carbonation. Rather dry palate. Super easy to drink and bursts out with flavours. An impeccable coffee stout!
