This is the newer version, a bitter, first brewed in 2024.
Beer is constantly evolving; every brew is informed by the rich tapestry of beer that has come before it. Here is our take on one of our indigenous heritage styles. A modern bitter, expertly hopped with Chinook, Harlequin, and Olicana. Its mahogany hue introduces an enticing blend of pine and citrus aromas. Each sip unfolds a harmonious blend of robust pine, floral, and tropical notes. Embodying the evolution of craft beer.

Cask at mad Squirrel watford. A clear reddish amber coloured pour with a lasting beige cap. Aroma is semi sweet dried fruits, tangy green apple, tangy berries, hint of vinegar. Flavour is composed of semi sweet nutty malts, brown bread, dried fruits, raisin twig, bark. Earrhy hops in the finish. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, not much condition. Maybe this cask is past it's best. But this is pretty lacklustre.

Cask @ Art Picture House, Bury. Dark golden-amber with a creamy head. Lower bitterness bitter allowing through some floral and fruity notes, with more of the latter in this respect including orange fruit.

Hand-pulled half-pint at a beer festival in the Anvil (Shifnal, Shropshire) on 11th October 2024. This was the first beer of the day. Clean and clear chestnut body, off-white crust. Nice blend of fruity bittering hops and a solid malty base, good start to the session.

Cask at The Four Candles (JDW), Oxford. Absolutely no aroma to speak of. Decent dull mahogany with light lasting foam. A bit of a mess on the taste front - cant pinpoint it. Easy watery ending with reasonable bitter grippy.

Cask at the Full Moon, Little Kingshill, 07/09/2024.
Deep amber topped with a lasting frothy just off white head ... lacing ensues ... proper looker.
Nose is biscuit, light herb, modest hop notes, dried fruit rinds.
Taste comprises brown bread, biscuit, raisins, straw, grains.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light drying close with a mellow bitter edge.
Solid cask offering.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading at 4.1% ABV.] A pale chestnut coloured pour with a tight cream head; malty aroma; satisfying biscuity malt taste; and some chocolate and a light woody bitterness to finish. A traditional bitter.
