Bottle at the "Colin and the Vikings tasting, Goteborg". Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, light chocolate. The flavour is medium bodied with a spicy hop palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonaton. Rather like a black IPA with a little chocolate. A great beer.

Bottle at home from London bridge oddbins. Aroma is ashy smoey roast, later some earthy choc . Dark chesnut brown with some red with a lasting loose light tan head. Flavour is less harsh than the aroma with some toffee, sweet milk chocolate. berry sweetness and then more of that ashy roast. Palate is nice and full and smooth. Slight earthy finish. quite a sweet praline finish. Remains very drinkable despite some of the ashy roast.

Bottle from Sourced Market St Pancras, drunk at home. Black beer thick lasting tan head. Well unsurprisingly it’s very chocolate on the aroma. Pretty drinkable as I had most of it before I started thinking about it. Full on chocolate but never too sweet. Just a little bit of newspaper creeps in. It’s fine, nothing special, not particularly memorable, but the chocolate is fine. Just a touch of newspaper.

Cask at the brewery taproom. Pours rich brown with a thick, frothy beige cap. Nice, quality cocoa on the nose, moderate roast, well toasted bread. Medium sweet flavor with mellow earthy bitterness, light bittersweet baking cocoa, ash, dirt, dried fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and silky texture; pretty good condition. Sweet finish with well rounded chocolate character, some baking cocoa, some milk chocolate, mild roast, low earthy bitterness, hints of warming alcohol. Quite well rounded and nuanced.
