Cask @ Bankers Draft (JDW). pours a thin copper brown. Little head & carbonation. Smells of clove, cinnamon & mulberries. I was afraid from the aroma that it would be like drinking liquified potpourri - I was wrong. Sweet but balanced and very pleasant. One of the better festive ales I’ve had - on 2 January! Bah Humbug indeed!

Cask at The Anchor, Birmingham. Poured a clear medium amber with a thin white heat and lots of broken lace. The aroma is weak malt, yeast and light citrus. The flavour is medium bitter with a fruity malt spicy aniseed palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Really very drinkable and perfect for a session which is something I rarely do these days because of all this damn ticking ;-)

Cask at the Hobgoblin, Reading. Deep amber with a thin white head. A fruity beer dominated by sweet cinnamon. In fact, it tastes like Hobgoblin with cinnamon syrup added. There is an earthy bitterness in the finish, but not enough to balance the sticky sweetness. Oh well, at least it’s that rare thing- a UK Christmad ale that actually tastes Christmassy!

Cask at Hamilton Hall, JDW, London. Pours clear amber with a small, white foam head. Nose holds some berries, mild spices, brown bread. Light sweet flavor with pleasant gingerbread, some toasty sugars, dried fruits. Light bodied with soft carbonation - defintely lacking some condition. Moderately sweet finish, further toasty bread, light cinnamon and ginger, grapes and berries. OK stuff.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Deep copper/brown colour with thin beige head. Some sticky toffee/hop/spice aroma. Ok in mouth with brown sugar and cinnamon on the finish and tingly hop. Best Wychwood bottled beer that I have had. Goodish winter beer 637314 3.3/5.0 Re-rate cask at The Pheasant, Ashford. 4.8% Clear chestnut colour, lasting beige head from the sparkler. Some spice and malt on aroma. OK dry malt in mouth then more spice and grainy malt on finish. Bit of hop sting on finish on toungue. Passable strong bitter.
