Bottle 330ml. [ As Iwate Kura Red Ale ].Clear medium red amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, nutty, tart red berries, dusty, tart, wood. Flavour is moderate sweet, light acidic and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, sweet fruity, malty, sugary. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. 350 ml can. Pours golden with a white head that is gone in seconds. Aroma has a bit of grainy water. Fresh and pilsner-like. Taste reveals a bit of snappy bitterness, not too heavy on the body, rather on the light side. Nicely balanced and would be a good gulper instead of macro lagers. Not too exciting or too special though.

Bottle. Red golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is berries, malt, hop, grass. Flavour is berries, malt, hop, floral, grass, caramel. Medium body. Ordinary beer.

4% on tap at Bungalow. It pours a cloudy honey gold with a solid head of foam. It has a soft grapefruit, citrus and bitter pine aroma. Quite full bodied for a 4% beer. The taste is pretty crazily bitter grapefruit pith, mouth puckering. Not balanced but good for hop heads. I liked the nose but the bitter taste was overdone for my taste...

.lots of sansho balanced over a malty backbone. Well balanced and not over powering.

Tap at Marciero. Pretty, cloudy golden color with lace. Spicy nose, seems like ginger, with wheat and citrus. Very spicy flavor, tasty overall but a bit too spicy.

Cask at Ushi-Tora, Tokyo. Deep amber color, small beige head. Aroma has plum and caramel. Medium-bodied. Sweetish plummy with caramel and light bitterness. Soft palate. Very well in its style.

Tap at Popeye, Tokyo. Black opaque color, firm beige head. Light toasted, berryish aroma. Medium-bodied. Caramel, chocolate, some coffee. Good malty although not very roasted or hoppy stout.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Naama’s place. Thanks Naama. Clear deep golden. Herbal and spicy aroma with a lemony touch. Slightly sweetish flavor, herbal, with malt, a peppery touch, a citric note and a nice herbal bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Decent and refreshing.

Bottle from Good Beer. Fruity sansho nose, herbal with citrus and light malts. spicy, herbal flavor, sansho, pepper, citrus, light pale malts. Light, crisp body, good bitterness. Much improved from the version 4 years ago, still not really my thing, and a bit too much spice, but not bad.
