Can from Tesco Danestone. It pours clear golden - yellow with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, white bread, rich tea biscuits, brioche, sponge cake, some spice, pie crust and toasty grains. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, bitter - sweet, heavy sweetness in the malt, brioche, sponge cake, rich tea biscuit, boozey boost, grassy, leafy, floral, peppery spice and toasty grains with a sweet bready and boosty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Undeniably a big boosty malty lagerbier. I like it.

2002 bottle, cellared long ago. Though not barrel-aged, it has a nice bourbony smell, with cherry cordial on the side. Solid black pour, very thin ring of foam at the edge. After the thick, warming smell, the taste is a bit thin. Still nice, but not a match to the nose. A bit flat after 23 years, but still some chocolate roast, no excess roastiness.

500ml can from Noz. Pours a misty pale gold, white head. I promised myself I wouldn't drink any of this Carlsberg-brewed muck but it was a quid, so I'm a sell out. Light and breezy enough, lacks any character at all.

Can. Black beer with a brown head. Roast and chocolate aroma with bourbon. Chocolate and toasted malt flavor with bourbon, vanilla, and light oak. Medium-plus bodied. Chocolate and bourbon linger with toasted malt and oak.

Can from Home Bargains, odd one to find there! But nearly out of date so that's why it's there. Pours mildly hazed gold with white foam. Aroma: straw, bubble gum type esters, spicy saison yeast, floral, hoppy. Taste: light to moderate sweet, citrus, spicy yeast, white wine, herbal tones. Semi-dry finish. Decent saison
