Description
The Brooklyn Brewery started with a dream to return brewing to Brooklyn, once a powerhouse of American beer production. Today our beers travel to more than half the United States and over thirty countries. Our James Beard Award-winning Brewmaster Garrett Oliver and his team brew everything from classic styles to bold experiments and collaborate with brewers, innovators and artists from around the globe. We’ve met wonderful people in remarkable places, and we can’t wait to show everyone what’s next.
In 2016, Brooklyn Brewery sold 24.5 percent to Kirin, Japan’s second-biggest brewer. The partnership allowed Brooklyn Brewery to use Kirin’s distribution arm to sell in Japan and Brazil.

Crisp, fruity. Like the full gold colour, but the rest is lacking. Not indicative of Mr. Oliver's brewing ability.

Very much like Guinness, but a bit sweeter, fuller flavor and generally better all around. Its not nitro'd, which really helps it have a kick.

A curious beer. More pumpkiny than anything I've ever had in this vein. Additionally, there were strong notes of cinnamon and cardamom - making this much like pumpkin pie. Nice but not something to drink more than taste of.

Very nice and close to authentic, but heavy on the malt sweetness, reducing your ability to drink it in any quantity. Great yeast, though.

Whoa. This is one intensely fruity beer, with stacks of dark malt. A meal. (Well, it was. A fresh sample on March 1, 2004...brewed at FX Matt, btw...well, it was thin, astringent and borderline undrinkable). Another sample two weeks later, taken from the same batch, was closer to the way I remember it - maybe a little thin and lifeless but not nearly as awful.

*sigh* I guess a brewery can't be perfect. While I've loved everything Brooklyn has produced so far, this is a disappointment. Its not bad tasting, but it has way too much hop flavor and aroma for a festbier. Further, the hop flavors actually dominated the maltiness one would expect from a festbier. I give it good marks for tasting OK, but its not a good Octoberfest.

This is for the 2000 edition of the beer (specially brewed for the millenium). A unique American barleywine: not strongly hopped (although a mild hoppiness is present). It has a nice strong malt and yeastiness. Does not pair well with food, and is overall difficult to finish due to strength and boldness- but is a well made barleywine in the British tradition.
