Bottle: Poured a medium black color ale with a nice foamy off-white head with standard retention. Aroma of roasted malt is kind of weak and I could not find anything else really. Taste is also a bit thin with some roasted malt and not much else going on. As mentioned, body is thin and carbonation is low I’ve had much better beer form that style to truly care about that one.

Bottle: Poured an copper color ale with nice thick white head with good retention. Aroma of bitter hops is clearly distinguishable. Taste is comprised of a nice mix between floral malt and bitter hops. Body is a bit thin for my liking but this still make for a refreshing drink in the summer.

12 oz bottle-pours an off white creamy head. Color is a hazy orangy/copper. Aroma is malty. Taste-not balanced, and don’t care for the flavor of these hops. Good carbonation. A little bite. Didn’t deliver as anticipated from the visual and the aroma. rerate–on tap-pours a white head with gold/copper color. Aroma is faint malt. Taste is caramel malt, flat hops. OK carbonation. 3.3

12 oz bottle-pours a tall light tan head. Color is deep copper. Aroma is hops-grapefruity. Taste is bitter grapefruit, aftertaste is a flatness and a little bite. Colder is better. rerate–on tap-3.3

2004 bottle, a bit of age behind it. Dark mahogany-ruby-brown. Big, yellow-tan head, quite lasting. Sediment in the bottom of the bottle, unpasteurised as well. Looking at my notes, this beer was quite the wild ride. It begins with a floral hops aroma, with some light mocha in the background. Light roast, anise and a strong black malt influence, or deeply kilned chocolate malt, that might be a bit too overdone. Flavor begins with lovely roasted pork, coffee, smoke, floral/minty hops. Mint sauce with lamb, toasted almonds and bitterness to finish. It seems to be going wonderfully, but then the notes take a turn and suggest that it has too bitter, earthy hops, rooty bitterness, celery stalks, ginger-like spiciness. Hops take over as it warms.

GOlden ale with a nice hoppy resinous aroma. Deep malts dance with citrusy hops and light nuts. Medium bodied. Pleasant IPA.

Draught at Brewtopia ’04 Large head on a clear, deep amber beer. Malt, weak hop aroma. Lacks the robust malt and hop signature, and heavier body of a good IPA, more of an APA or ESB. Drinkable but a little thin.

Draught at Brewtopia ’04 Clear, deep mahogany color. Good lacing. Malty with a slightly smoky aroma. Over this has a malty profile with a slightly bitter hop finish. Not a bad beer, but not up to an English Strong Ale IMO.

Deep amber coloured body with a large off-white 'microfroth' (stolen from the land of espresso) head. Aroma purely of citrus and piney hops. Medium-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour which lasts long in the palate! Aftertaste shows a lot of the hop character while still bringing some malt character through. Overall, a nice heavily-hopped beer! I sampled this on draught at MacGregor's in Rochester, New York on 21-January-2004.
