Description
Tamarack Brewing Company opened it’s doors in the summer of 2007, which is eons in the craft beer community. We brewed 380 barrels of beer in our first year of business; more than ten years later, we are up to 4,400. Tamarack in Missoula opened in 2011, serving the same great food and drink found in Lakeside.

Poured up on tap at the Tamarack brewpub and listed at 6.1% and 38IBU and just called Pumpkin Brown with mahogany looking body and tan head. The modest aroma emits some dark roasted maltiness mixing with smooth winter like spices. The taste is straight up pumpkin pie spices with firm dark roasted malts followed by a mild level of real pumpkin meat swimming around amongst the dark roasted malts. This is another full dark roasty offering where the pumpkin winter spices like cinnamon and nutmeg and the like are a little much on the bright and strong side.

Poured up on tap at the Tamarack brewpub with clear amber to copper body and thin tan head. The modest aroma is largely pine hoppiness with faint sweetness somewhere off in the background. The taste delvers pine hop bitterness and then the hops are smoothed out by sweeter malty notes to midway. Along with the pine hops are resiny flavors and a bit of crusty malt sweetness around the edges into the finish. Smooth brew with plenty of pine hop bitterness to keep me happy.

Poured up on tap at the Tamarack brewpub and listed at 8.6% and 30IBU with mahogany body and creamy looking tan head. The aroma is pretty full with rich dark fruity esters and various winter season Christmas fruit cake spices. The taste is bold enough to match the boldness of the wintery environment with rich sweet dark fruity esters and spicy yeast running straight into winter like spices too. It rounds out about midway with perfectly to style booziness that thins out the richness just a bit. Yummy bold winter brew where brief notes of dark roasted malts and chocolate show up once it warms a tad.

Poured up on tap at the Tamarack brewpub with slightly hazy copper body and gold edges as well as a nice looking white head. The mild aroma is only meekly sweet with malts and nothing else. The taste is sweet with some orange wedge aided notes and moving into modest sugary sweet malts. I also get a touch of yeasty spices every now and then. This is easy drinking stuff.

Poured up on tap at the Tamarack brewpub with hazy gold body and copper core as well as a foamy white head. The mild aroma offers up little bits of banana and a touch of grainy malts. The taste has the classic banana and clove and yeasty spices going on and mixing with a watery graininess that smooths this out and makes the sessionability of this high. I like the way the slight grainy malts get in there and add another facet to an otherwise fairly standard tasting hefe.

Poured up on tap at the Tamarack brewpub with clear deep gold body and off white head. The mild aroma has timid vague hops and some sweetness in the background. The taste has grainy malts and some decent hoppy notes like spicy hops and a bit of faint floral hops too. This is smooth and sessionable and is pleasingly hop forward for my taste.

Poured up on tap at the Tamarack brewpub with dark body and mahogany edges as well as thin mocha head. The aroma is on the modest side with essentially dark roasted malts running from front to back and allowing a brief sense of maltiness. The taste creates rich dark roasted maltiness, some dark roasted coffee and a bit of sweet molasses that helps even things out. Nice rich flavor. It seems this place does “roasty” brews very well. I’m diggin’ it.

Poured up on tap at the Tamarack brewpub with clear copper body and gold edges as well as a light tan head that leaves behind some sheet lacing. The aroma has plenty of pleasing yet somewhat modest pine hoppiness with faint snippets of sweet malts well off in the background. The taste has rich chewy hoppiness coming from a nice level of pine hops but also some floral hops and sort of a resiny grassy note. This is a pretty darn good IPA that brings up and lingers with near resiny bitterness into the after taste.

Poured up on tap at the Tamarack brewpub and called a Bear Bottom Blonde with clear gold body and thin white head. The mild aroma has some citrus notes that lean toward a bit of lemon as well as a dash of grainy malts. The taste has a surprising level of lemon and lime like citrus notes as well as almost a grassiness and then rolling into sugar malts and a mild sense of fruity esters. It seems sort of citrusy for the style and by citrusy I mean leaning pretty strongly toward a lime like sensation. Interesting.

Poured up on tap at the Tamarack brewpub with deep copper brown body and thin off white head. The mild aroma offers up a bit of roasted malts and sweet malts to sweet nuttiness. The taste has plenty of roasted malts and some dark roasted malts flowing into malt sweetness along with faint spicy hop notes. This is a pretty roasty amber.
