Bottle. Appearance- coca-cola, very dark brown, not much of a head at all. Aroma- classic stout- dry roast, malty, hints of dark fruit, Chocolatey hints, a bit of liquorice. Taste- quite a lot of sweetness, sugary, hops, liquorice, vanilla, raisin, malt background, medium mouthfeel. Not bad, but a little too sweet and unbalanced. Bit like a cross between a stout and a quad.

Opaque dark brown beer, few tan bubbles for a head. Nose of rich chocolate cake! Palate is smooth and very slightly viscous. Very mild carbonation. Taste largely follows the snout and adds softish dark fruits. Semi dry finish. Rich chocolate cake beer!

Bottle, from Hogsback brewery shop, at JF’s house decoration bash, 22/02/14. Hazed orange amber with a good sized off white head that retains well. Nose is bitter orange, toasted bread, straw, apricot jam. Taste comprises bread dough, orange marmalade, earthy hop in the background, bitter citrics. Medium bodied, light prickly carbonation - a little over cooked in this respect, semi drying close. Nose sure I’d have this as a bitter, more golden blonde I’d say.

Cask-conditioned at the Beer Emporium, Bristol 14/2/2014. Deep brown in colour with a decent, off-white head. Sweet, milk chocolate, some vanilla and a touch of roast before a gentle finish. Good.

330ml bottle. Not really been a massive fan of these Christmas beers and their spices but with this one Rebel have really given it everything they’ve got. It twists and turns through big hits of nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves with tangs of pepper and cardammon seeing you off. Perhaps too full on for me but if these Christmas beers are your thing it’ll tick all the boxes.

500ml bottle. Quite a pleasant orange citrus coursing through this beer, well-blanaced, nice light and crisp. Not bad at all.

500ml bottle. Pours murky River Severn brown, quite a nice taste with a smoky, creamy malt feel and a light sweetness. Gotta say these Rebel beers are starting to grow on me.

500ml bottle as a gift. Was dreading opening this due to mixed reports from fellow beer geeks, but this isn’t too bad at all. A crisp fresh pale with a nice bitterness and soothing lemon citrus. Nice artwork as always too.
