Description
Kompania Piwowarska operates three breweries with rich heritage: Tyskie Browary Książęce (established in 1629), the Dojlidy Brewery in Bialystok (1768) and Lech Browary Wielkopolski in Poznan (1895). These breweries provide Polish people with their favourite beers, including Żubr, Tyskie, Lech, Dębowe, Redd’s and the Książęce specialty collection. Our proven beer recipes, natural ingredients, pristinely clean breweries and, above all, superbly skilled and experienced brewers, allow us to brew beers that are highly valued in Poland and abroad.

Can, 0.5l, 12°, courtesy of heavy who brought it from Poland (thanks!) Poured a golden body pierced by very lively carbonation and covered by a medium to big, quite thick white head that took its time to go away. The nose was slightly metallic but fresh. Dusty hop mostly with some underlying malt. The taste was an entirely different story however. Sweet and malty, crude, bready, with some light notes of alcohol. The hop was.. well... maybe was in the background.... giving mostly a light bite and maaaaaybe some weak acidity and something in the aftertaste. Too much alcohol for the body, making it taste a bit cheap. 12° and 6% just don’t go together. and I don’t like it much. Flawed, ruined a bit by that light alcohol presence and it reminds me somewhat of Karlovačko. Still, had far worse. Oh and how is this a Premium lager?

11/08 0.5 l bottle from a gas station near Warszawa. Opened with a big pop :) Boring lighter golden bodied with tiny head that disappeared soon. Slightly lemony aroma, weak. Thin bodied as well, what I felt of flavor was some slight malt sweetness with some lemony hops. Alcohol is very slightly felt just in the finish, being well hidden for such simple and light brew. Good choice for Polish people wanting to get drunk easily, as it goes down really easy. Otherwise pretty boring as it misses body and some finer flavor.

0.5l bottle courtesy of and shared with heavy who brought it from Poland (thanks!) As appearances go, this one’s scraping the bottom of the barrel. A yellow body with scarcely a milimeter of head that went away almost immediately. I’m surprised by the high appearance points. Still, that’s what I saw. Weak nose, oily, some lemon. Missing alcohol and aggressive crappy malt, which is a great thing really for the strength. The taste isnt exactly strong either. Dust and lemon again. Yup, this certainly puts the hop in front. Malt and alcohol come in with question marks among the notes so I guess it’s lacking in that department too. Slightly sweetish and dangerously drinkable. This would definitely be one of my choices if I was looking for a quick alcohol boost in Poland. It deserves more than it gave it because it’s far better than the sum of its parts.

50cl bottle. Pours golden. Aroma filled with lemonade / apple. Taste like apple fizzy that is more like a soda than anything else. Almost a mix of soda and beer. Apple cider with sugary soap. One nasty experience. Is it the idea of summer in Poland?

Can (BB 12/2008)
As "Redd’s Fresh" by Ursus (Romania). Propably thisis it as the label is same. Golden color, white head, some lace. Fruity aroma: tropical fruits (papaya) and black currant leaves, not enjoyable as such. Syrapy, sweet, fruity flavor (strawberry, passion fruit etc). Dry sweet-sour aftertaste. This is tasting more like a radler (more than a beer). I don’t think that even non-beer drinkers love this.

50 cL can. Pours clear and golden orange, holds a dense off-white and slowly diminishing head. Solid cornish aroma with a light metallic note. Thick corn and malt flavour with a distinct alcohol presence. Light malt and solid corn flavour into the finish. Mild bitterness but most of all - a lot of alcohol.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of oh6gdx. Clear golden with an off-white head. Sweet aroma of cinnamon sugar. Light-bodied, sweet citrus notes and a very distinct cinnamon spiciness before a dry finish. Very unusual but not unpleasant as such. 130608
