Bottle from Corks, Bristol. Golden coloured with a slight head and moderate carbonation. Farty, eggy aroma with some damp wood and a touch of moss. Sweetish, apple juice flavour upfront, a mineral edge and touch of TCP, leading to a dryish finish. Full of character.

Bottle from a small shop in Charmouth, Dorset on the corner of the road to the seafront 04-04-10. A single varietal cider using the ’Morgan Sweet’ variety which I understand is one of the first to ripen and traditionally has been used as a dessert variety, so a slight turn up to find this one in use in the West Country. Very sweet in the mouth with lashings of vanilla. Apples used are undeniably very sweet but very pleasant, quite creamy, lacks a good tang but in fairness there is little to be critical about this, it said it was a sweet, slightly sparkling single varietal cider and thats exactly what it is. Btw its gold in colour with good clarity. A6 A5 F7 P4 Ov12 3.4

Bottle from a small shop in Charmouth, Dorset on the corner of the road to the seafront 04-04-10. Pours warm gold, excellent clarity. There is wood and stewed apple on the nose and a definate aged quality to this. On first taste I picked up some TCP and immediately thought that it was Islay cask aged, its been wooden cask aged for 12 months but doesn’t say what type of cask on the bottle. Some soft pulpy sweet apple, its tasty and got a good blunted tanginess to it the ageing has softened its edges, really liked this. A6 A5 F7 P4 Ov13 3.5

Bottle. Deep gold with plenty of carbonation. Light apple juice and caramel aroma. Flavour of honey, wood and sweet apple juice, with a touch of artificial sweetener in the finish. Ok .

Bottle. Gold with plenty of fizz. Aroma of dryish apples, with a trace of toffee and some wood. Flavour was slightly farty, with dry apple juice and a touch of syrup in the finish. Ok.

From a polypin at the Portcullis, Clifton, Bristol 23/07/09. A great dry cider - sour, with some apples in the background and a big, dry, barnyard finish. Great rustic stuff.
