Description
Opened in 2001, Poachers was a 5-barrel micro brewery which was originally situated on the former site of RAF Swinderby (a war time Bomber Command Station, latterly the School of Recruit Training before closing in 1992). The Brewery is owned and operated by George Batterbee, a former RAF man for 25 years who has come 'full circle', as he spent his first tour at RAF Swinderby which lasted for 5 years. Today the brewery operates from a converted barn at the rear of the brewer's house in North Hykeham. All the beers brewed by Poachers are also available in Bottle-Conditioned form.

17th July 2016. Cask pint in The Crown Inn, Oakengates Shropshire. End of the barrel, sadly. Deep amber body with a white fading head. Caramel and toffee in both the nose and taste, dry finish. Ended up flat as a pancake and I had to leave almost half of it because of it’s condition: not good!
